FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GUITAR CENTER BECOMES AN AUTHORIZED APPLE RESELLER

NEW YORK, NY, October 10, 2003 — Guitar Center (NASDAQ-GTRC), America’s leading professional audio recording equipment and musical instruments retailer, today announced that, as of November 2003, it will be an authorized reseller of Apple’s entire line of products, including Emagic’s digital audio production tools. Beginning with Guitar Center’s new flagship store in New York City, recording professionals in music, post-production, and other pro audio sectors will have a one-stop shop for purchasing everything necessary to create the complete digital recording environment.

“As the nationwide leading retail outlet for the professional audio market, Guitar Center is pleased to be an official reseller of all Apple products,” said David Angress, executive vice president of Guitar Center. “When our new flagship store in New York City opens on November 20, customers will be able to purchase a complete workflow solution for their professional needs.”

“The combination of top-of-the-line music production tools, like Logic, with the Power Mac G5 makes the Mac a powerful, full-featured digital audio workstation,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s executive vice president of Worldwide Sales and Operations. “We’re excited that Guitar Center will significantly expand the availability of our pro audio solutions to their customers.”

Guitar Center, with 120-plus stores across the U.S., is now authorized to carry, sell, and support the entire line of Apple products, from the wildly popular iPod, to the powerful Power Mac G5. Audio engineers, producers, recording artists, and musicians will have an entirely new channel to access the computing platform that has proven to be the premier choice for audio professionals globally.
