GENELEC’S ON-LINE COMMUNITY IS A HUGE SUCCESS
— Company offers visitors
a chance to win a visit to the Genelec factory in Finland —

CONVENTION, NEW YORK, NY, October 9, 2009 — Earlier this
year, Finland-based Genelec Oy, the world-leading manufacturer of Active
Monitoring loudspeakers, launched an online community on its website.
The Genelec Community at www.community.genelec.com
is aimed at all Genelec users and other audio enthusiasts who want to
get in touch with fellow users and fans for discussion and to share
experiences with the products and studio work in general. Online since
April 1st, the community has already reached nearly 1100 members and
is growing rapidly.
Recently Genelec
also started a lottery where people can enter to win an all-inclusive
visit to Genelec’s factory in Finland. All users need to do to
enter the lottery is to join the Community before March 31, 2010, and
the competition is open to everyone who has already registered. Entrants
must be 18 years of age or older. More details about terms and conditions
are available inside the Community.
The Genelec
Community features monthly user stories and technology tips, as well
as a newsletter posted to all registered users. The site also features
a discussion forum where users can post their experiences and questions
with a direct link to the manufacturer.
“We wanted
to create a place for all the Genelec people around the world, where
they can share experiences and benefit from the knowledge of fellow
users in a modern and efficient way”, says Terho Savolainen, Marketing
Manager of Genelec Oy. “Now all of our users and fans have a place
for direct contact to the Genelec’s support and an easy way to
use it. Sharing experiences with other users about the products and
getting advice on room acoustics, speaker placement or any other problems
people might have with our products is now much more convenient than
before.”
Future development
of the Community depends chiefly on its membership. “This is only
the first step in improving the cooperation between the manufacturer
and our end users. We are working on new ideas all the time and are
of course welcoming any suggestions from our worldwide user base,”
Savolainen continues. “Most of our customers are spending a lot
of time on the Internet, so that is where we want to be as well.”
