GENELEC EXPANDS SUBWOOFER LINE WITH
NEW 7073A ACTIVE SUBWOOFER SYSTEM

Press Release Text: Word DOC - RichTextFormat (RTF)

— Genelec’s new 7073A includes full 6.1 bass management,
making it ideal for large surround sound or stereo installations —

NAMM WINTER SESSION, ANAHEIM, CA, January 15, 2004 — World-renowned Finnish professional loudspeaker designer Genelec is displaying the new 7073A Active Subwoofer. Designed for large-scale installations in either stereo or surround, the 7073A features four 12" drivers, fast-acting, low distortion amplifiers, 124 dB SPL capability down to 19 Hz, plus a full 6.1-capable bass management system for impressive flexibility. In addition, all electronics are integrated into the 7073A subwoofer cabinet, including active crossover filters, driver overload protection circuits, and power amplifiers.

The 7073A’s bass management system features six inputs and outputs (L/C/R front and
L/C/R rear), plus LFE input and summed signal output connectors. The dedicated LFE input (which can be set to two bandwidths, 19-85 or 19-120 Hz) has a low-pass filter selectable to
85 or 120 Hz, plus a +10 dB sensitivity switch. If the LFE channel includes frequencies above the crossover frequency, the system’s “redirect” function sends such signals to the center front output to ensure they are audible.

To aid in crossover alignment, an integrated 85 Hz test signal generator is built in, while dual bass rolloff and phase matching controls allow accurate tailoring of the sub to its environment. The bass rolloff can be adjusted in 2 dB steps, while the phase matching controls offer four positions, from 0 to -270 degrees.

The low pass section of the bass management system has adjustable sensitivity for simple level matching with the main loudspeakers in the installation. The six HPF sections have 0 dB passband gain and can be bypassed with an optional switch to allow accurate determination of the effect of the sub on the overall system.

The four drivers used in the 7073A are 12" diameter long-throw types, while the amplifier can deliver up to 1 kilowatt RMS of short-term power with minimal THD and intermodulation distortion. The amplifier also features power-on muting and driver overload protection.
The powerful 7073A Active Subwoofer measures 20-5/8" H x 56-11/16" W x 22" D and
weighs 265 lbs.

The Genelec 7073A is available immediately with a MSRP of $6950.00.
