CHICAGO’S
ALA CARTE ENTERTAINMENT LOOKS TO GC PRO TO SOURCE ALL THE SOUND SYSTEM
COMPONENTS FOR THEIR LATEST VENUE, PARK PLACE
— Sound system
for Park Place, a new restaurant/guitar bar in Chicago, is the first
for Ala Carte Entertainment that’s completely sourced through
a single vendor, and GC Pro made sure that everything was right there
and right on time —
WESTLAKE
VILLAGE, CA, January 20, 2010 — Ala
Carte Entertainment prides itself on being a locally owned entertainment
venue enterprise, with 25 bars, clubs and restaurants in the Chicagoland
area over the last 30 years. Their venues include the Lion Head Pub;
several Moretti’s Ristorante locations; the Leg Room; Finn McCool’s;
the Cadillac Ranch (the Midwest’s largest and most famous country
music nightclub); and Vision, recently voted “Best Megaclub”
by Urb magazine. For Park Place, the company’s latest venue, they
did things a little differently: instead of sourcing sound system components
through various vendors, they chose one supplier where they could get
it all – Guitar Center Professional
(GC Pro), the outside sales division of Guitar Center that focuses on
the needs of professional users.
GC
Pro Account Manager Mark Johnson and the team from the Arlington Heights
GC Pro location sold Park Place all of its sound system equipment, including
114 JBL Control 26CT 6.5-inch two-way speakers, four JBL Control SB-2
Contractor surface-mount speakers, 10 JBL Control 23T 3.5-inch two-way
speakers, two TOA W-912A 120W 6-channel in-wall mixer/amplifiers, 16
TOA B01S balanced line input modules, two dbx® 1260 ZonePro speaker
processors, two QSC ISA800TI 800W stereo power amplifiers and three
QSC ISA500TI 500W 70V power amplifiers.
“We’ve
used multiple vendors in the past when we built new venues,” says
Ed Kukulski, who, along with A/V Supervisor Todd Seisser, has designed
and supervised the construction of all of Ala Carte Entertainment’s
venues. However, Kukulski had tired of being unable to find exactly
the equipment and components he wanted, waiting as vendors put gear
on back-order, deliveries being late or not made at all and orders being
filled incorrectly.
Kukulski
and Seisser, also working with A/V Technicians Jim Madalinski and Eric
Braun, turned to GC Pro in a big way. “I had worked with Mark
Johnson at GC Pro in the past and we decided that we would try letting
them handle virtually all of the equipment sourcing,” Kukulski
says. And that decision paid off handsomely. “They had everything
we needed and they had it in stock. For instance, not a lot of dealers
keep something like a dbx DriveRack in stock, especially in a recession,
but GC Pro had them on the shelf. Or the dbx ZonePro, which is the kind
of thing only they would be able to get on short notice. We benefit
from GC Pro’s scale – they beat everyone on price because
they can order products in larger quantities and pass the savings on
to us.” Ala Carte Entertainment has at least two more venues planned
for 2010 and Kukulski says there’s one other thing he’s
also planning on: “We’ll be doing more business with GC
Pro,” he says. “They’re great to work with.”
