Big Head Todd & The Monsters’ Front-of-House Engineer Andy Torri Says His Encounter With Bose ShowMatch System Was Truly a Day at the Beach

Framingham, MA, December 27, 2018 – Andy Torri has mixed front-of-house for Big Head Todd & The Monsters nearly since the celebrated group debuted in the mid-80s. Torri came on board with Denver natives The Monsters in 1989. “I was just out of school for music and sound, and I wasn’t finding any jobs,” he recalls. “Then Todd said, ‘I have a job for you.’” That turned out to be mixing the band’s show on the road, just after their debut LP, Another Mayberry, was released. With the exception of a few years at Boulder’s KBCO, Torri has been with the band ever since.

Torri and the band first experienced the ShowMatch DeltaQ line array system from Bose Professional at a fly date on August 18 for the Hermosa Beach (CA) Summer Concerts series. Since the band usually tours with only their own mix consoles, they’ve worked with just about every PA brand and type out there. Provided by rental A/V production company Total Production Group, the ShowMatch system was an ear-opener for Torri. “It just sounded great,” he said. “I usually only get 15 minutes to tune the PA and then we do a quick soundcheck, and it’s less than ideal, but at this gig it was literally all we needed. The PA was pretty much perfect, with a few minor adjustments. The challenge was the wind near the beach, which can always be tough. But the high frequencies held together nicely. The clarity was excellent, and I was pleasantly surprised to have so much power and punch from such a small package. I’m looking forward to the next time I get to work with a ShowMatch system.”

ShowMatch arrays are rapidly becoming the system of choice and a smart business decision for leading rental and tour sound companies and live venues, based on their sound quality, compact size, selectable coverage pattern and scalability – allowing them to support a wide variety of sound reinforcement applications, including live concerts, festivals, corporate events and civic ceremonies.
