LOS ANGELES, CA, January 27, 2017 – As part of mastering facility The Bakery’s ongoing efforts to reach out to the music industry to share their expertise and network with other top pros, The Bakery founder and principal Eric Boulanger and fellow mastering engineer Jett Galindo represented the facility with a strong presence at the 2017 NAMM Show in Anaheim, Jan. 19 through 22, 2017.

On Thursday, January 19, Galindo took part in a series of Mentoring Sessions presented by SoundGirls.org and hosted by Heather Rafter of RafterMarsh, featuring a number of female leaders in professional audio and beyond. Groups rotated between leaders specializing in Live Sound, Recording and Mastering, Broadcast Engineering and Professional Audio Sales. Other mentors included Leslie Ann Jones (Skywalker Sound), Karrie Keyes (monitor engineer, Pearl Jam, and co-founder of SoundGirls.org), Grace Royse (Live Sound Engineer and Production Manager), Sara Elliott (VP of Operations and Co-Founder of VUE Audiotechnik), Dawn Birr (Global Commercial Manager, Sennheiser and Neumann), Fela Davis (Sound Engineer and Owner of 23db Productions), Leslie Gaston-Bird (VP, Audio Engineering Society Western Region), Claire Murphy (Guitar and Backline Tech), Catharine Wood (Recording & Mix Engineer and Owner, Planetwood Studios), Tiffany Hendren (Live Sound, FOH and Monitor Engineer), Jessica Berg (Tour Manager and Live Sound Engineer), Erika Earl (Director of Hardware Engineering, Slate Digital and Slate Media Technology), Meegan Holmes (Global Sales Manager, Eighth Day Sound Los Angeles), Daniella Peters (Head of Sales and Management, Team Rat Sound Systems) and Jeri Palumbo (Broadcast Engineer for NFL, NBA, MLB, NASCAR).

The following day, on Friday, January 20, Galindo was part of the panel “Opportunities for Women in Media Technology,” in the convention’s TEC Track Sessions. This panel, moderated by tech journalist and writer (CNN, CNBC and L.A. Times), video host, content strategist and entrepreneur Jessica Naziri, focused on the challenges that women in the audio industry face every day and how the session’s panelists have remained true to themselves, all the while keeping their eye on their goals and achieving success. Other panelists included Lenise Bent, mixer engineer and producer; and Leslie Lewis, producer and president of Leslie Lewis Consulting.

Galindo remarked, “To be surrounded by fellow women in the audio/music industry – veterans and aspiring engineers alike – it was all very electric, uplifting and empowering. It's important now more than ever that we keep the dialogue open and embolden women to pursue their dreams in music and technology. The TEC Panel and Soundgirls Mentoring Sessions are the perfect venues for this movement to keep going.”

At the 32nd Annual TEC Awards, held Saturday, January 21, 2017, Boulanger served as co-presenter for the category "Technical Achievement in Signal Processing Software (Dynamics / EQ / Utilities)," which was awarded to iZotope Ozone 7. Co-presenting with Boulanger was legendary musician Jerry Harrison (Talking Heads, The Modern Lovers).
