Mastering Facility The Bakery Celebrates
Record-Setting Golden Globe Haul for La La Land

– Hit film won seven Golden Globe Awards, including Best Original Score and Best Original Song ("City of Stars") –

LOS ANGELES, CA, January 13, 2017 – This week La La Land continued to make headlines as it won a record-setting seven Golden Globe Awards on January 8 – more than any other film to date. The modern musical, starring Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, John Legend and others, has been praised nearly universally, with many critics citing its musical numbers and score as particular highlights. The film won Golden Globes for both Best Original Score and Best Original Song ("City of Stars"). Among the many talented people who worked together to bring this triumph to theaters (and the associated albums to record stores) were composer Justin Hurwitz, director Damien Chazelle, lyric composers Pasek and Paul, music producer Marius deVries, Music Mixer/Score Recordist Nicholai Baxter and many others. All of the music ended up being recorded at the Barbra Streisand Scoring Stage at the historic Sony Pictures Studios. For mastering the material, deVries and Baxter looked no further than mastering facility The Bakery – also located on the Sony Pictures lot. The Bakery founder Eric Boulanger, along with fellow mastering engineer Jett Galindo, mastered both the Original Soundtrack album and the score album for all formats, including vinyl.

On the recent Golden Globe haul, Boulanger stated, “It is an honor to be involved in such a unanimously beloved piece of cinema. To have our facility contribute to a record-breaking project like this gives us a wonderful feeling. I’m so proud to have been part of this team, and I thank Marius and Nicholai for getting us involved.”
