Recording Academy™ Producers & Engineers Wing® Holds "Preservation Celebration" with Iron Mountain Entertainment Services


Santa Monica, Calif. (AUGUST 14, 2018) — On Wednesday, July 18, 2018, the Recording Academy™ Producers & Engineers Wing®, in partnership with Iron Mountain Incorporated® (NYSE: IRM) Entertainment Services, held an exclusive event at the Iron Mountain Entertainment Services Archival Rooms at Cahuenga in Los Angeles, CA. The evening recognized the facility’s newly revamped Archival Rooms with an intimate cocktail reception celebrating excellence in archiving and preservation of recorded music, film and fine art. Guests enjoyed audiophile listening, cocktails and networking with industry luminaries, along with stunning photos of iconic musicians provided by the Morrison Hotel Gallery.

The event was attended by leading members from the recording and entertainment communities, including producers/engineers Mike Clink, Niko Bolas, Om’Mas Keith, CJ Vanston, Tommy Vicari, Rafa Sardina, Doug Mountain and Jim Scott; John McBride (Blackbird Studio/Blackbird Academy); Paula Salvatore, Art Kelm and Patrick Kraus (Capitol Studios); Candace Stewart (EastWest Studios); celebrity portrait photographer Timothy White (a partner in the Morrison Hotel Gallery); and many others. 

The evening began with a welcome from Maureen Droney, Recording Academy Managing Director, P&E Wing and Recording Technology, who described the P&E Wing’s relationship with Iron Mountain, underscoring both companies' commitment to excellence in audio and best practices in archiving and preservation. She stated, "Iron Mountain is the gold standard in its field, and our organizations share the same vision for best technical practices."

Droney then introduced Greg Parkin, Vice President, Iron Mountain Entertainment Services North America, who elaborated on the long-term relationship with the P&E Wing and Iron Mountain's overall work in preservation and restoration. After the program, guests were treated to a tour of the facilities and Hi-Res music listening sessions on an audiophile playback system in the Cahuenga facility‘s studios.

Parkin stated, "Our partnership with the P&E Wing has been a fruitful relationship for many years, and events like this help emphasize the commitments of both of our organizations to sound archiving, preservation, restoration and transfer. We look forward to our continued partnership with the P&E Wing in bringing these issues to the forefront."
