DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group and Held at Capitol Studios in L.A. on Wednesday, June 1

Santa Monica, Calif. (June 13, 2016) — On Wednesday, June 1, 2016, The Recording Academy® Producers & Engineers Wing® presented Capitol Studios & Mastering with its prestigious Certificate of Appreciation to acknowledge its dedication to excellence in sound quality and the art and craft of recording, producing, engineering, mastering and archiving, across every musical genre, on a continuing basis for more than 60 years. The presentation was part of a Hi-Res Symposium sponsored by DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group held at Capitol Studios' legendary Studio A. The event was attended by leading journalists from the consumer and professional audio market sectors and began with opening remarks from Don Was, President of Blue Note Records, followed by Marc Finer, DEG Senior Director, who provided an update on the overall Hi-Res Audio initiative. Following that was a series of demonstrations, listening sessions and a panel discussion with representatives from Universal Music Group, The Recording Academy Producers & Engineers Wing and Sony Electronics. The day culminated in the presentation of the P&E Wing’s Certificate of Appreciation to Capitol Studios.

"Fifteen years ago this year, the P&E Wing was founded on the premise 'Dedicated to Audio Excellence,'" stated Maureen Droney, Managing Director, P&E Wing and Recording Technology. "We have many partners in this quest for audio excellence, and premier among them are the great recording studios like Capitol, which are, of course, ground zero for education about best recording practices, and whose entire reason for being is to serve artists and the music that they make. Capitol Studios is truly unique in our industry, as it has remained on the cutting edge for the past 60 years, all the while also maintaining its historic legacy. Capitol Studios shares the P&E Wing vision of promoting best practices and audio production guidelines throughout the music industry, and it is my honor to present Patrick Kraus, Arthur Kelm and Paula Salvatore with our P&E Wing Certificate of Appreciation."

"It is an honor to accept this Certificate of Appreciation on behalf of Capitol Studios," stated Patrick Kraus, Senior Vice President-Head of Studio, Production & Archive Services/Universal Music Group. "The P&E Wing shares our values and acts on behalf of the producing and engineering community addressing important issues as the music industry continues to evolve. Capitol Studios is proud of our legacy, and we continue to build that legacy into the future with exciting new creative projects and technology innovations, all while continuing to work with the P&E Wing and its membership."
