Iron Mountain Entertainment Services Spearheads Workshop at
AES Dublin
HOLLYWOOD, CA, March 12, 2019 – Iron Mountain Incorporated® Entertainment Services, the global leader in protection and preservation of entertainment content, is spearheading a workshop at the upcoming 146th International Audio Engineering Society Convention in Dublin, Ireland, March 20 – 23, 2019, at the Dublin Convention Centre. The workshop, titled “Media Preservation and Recovery,” will take place on Friday, March 22, at 16:30 – 17:30 local time.
Iron Mountain Audio Engineer Kelly Pribble is serving as the workshop’s chair/moderator, alongside the following panelists: Alex Tomlin of Bonded Services UK (an Iron Mountain Entertainment Services Company), Federica Bressan of Ghent University (Ghent, Belgium); and Brad McCoy of the Library of Congress (Culpeper, VA, USA).
This panel is the first Western Europe AES event showcasing the combined efforts of Iron Mountain Entertainment Services and the Bonded Services Group, an international group of providers of media asset management services for global entertainment and media companies that was acquired by Iron Mountain in 2017.
Event synopsis:
Media Recovery Technology is a skill few have mastered, but as our cultural heritage in the form of audio rapidly dissembles, the ability to rescue tapes and disc drives proves invaluable. Kelly Pribble is a veteran engineer and archivist that has had extensive work in Nashville, TN; London, England; New York City; and Rio de Janeiro. Kelly leads Media Recovery Technology Program for Iron Mountain. Alex Tomlin is a veteran audio engineer and archivist based in London, England, who specializes in preservation and remediation of media. Dr. Federica Bressan is a post-doctoral researcher at Ghent University, where she has designed and developed software modules to automatize preservation routines and controls for data integrity verification. She has published her work in international peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. Brad McCoy is Senior Studio Engineer in the Audio Preservation Unit at the Library of Congress Packard Campus. Brad has been active in the audio archiving/preservation community for more than 30 years at the Library of Congress.
