DISPLAYS ITS TOP-OF-THE-LINE OPUS2 LOUDSPEAKERS AT CEDIA 2010
— High-End
Lineup of Home Theater and Music Speakers Feature Newly-Developed
Materials and Technologies to Deliver Exceptional Performance
—
Hopedale,
MA, Sept 23, 2010 — At CEDIA Expo 2010, Sound Import, LLC, the
exclusive U.S. distributor for the Wharfedale brand of dynamic loudspeakers,
is exhibiting its Wharfedale Opus2 loudspeakers, a complete range
of home-theater and stereo models that incorporate the company’s
most advanced, newly-developed engineering innovations to deliver
extraordinary sound.
The
Wharfedale Opus2 lineup includes two bookshelf
speakers, three floorstanding towers, two center-channel speakers
(one wall-mountable) and two wall-mountable surround loudspeakers.
Prices range from approximately $900 to $7,000 per pair.
Opus2
loudspeakers are available in four striking, piano-grade real-wood
finishes, including Satin Cherry, Satin Rosewood, Satin Bird’s
Eye Maple and high-gloss Piano Black, to complement the most elegant
home décors, custom installation audio/video systems and living
environments. The finishes feature 10 coats of hand-polished clear
varnish and take 11 days to complete. The wide range of Opus2 models
and configurations make them suitable for use anywhere from smaller
spaces to larger installations.
Opus2
loudspeakers are designed entirely without compromise to reproduce
music and movies with exceptional realism and low distortion even
at high volume levels. The woofers employ either a woven carbon fiber
or glass/fiber/glass cone (depending on the model), while the midrange
drivers utilize tri-laminated cone material. The Opus2 midrange driver
is capable of reproducing the complete range of the human voice, yielding
remarkable coherence and purity to male and female vocals. This driver
is mounted in a die-cast aluminum housing that provides partial horn
loading, and a dispersion characteristic that mimics the way real
voices are heard in real life. The soft-dome Opus2 tweeter features
a copper-coated aluminum voice coil, and a rear housing that acoustically
isolates the tweeter, for smooth yet fast and detailed high-frequency
response to beyond 50kHz.
All
Opus2 drivers are produced in matched pairs within a less than 1dB
tolerance across their entire range. All the drivers are closely matched
to their enclosures; as a result, crossovers with a minimum of parts
can be used, resulting in better phase linearity and smoother frequency
response over a wider listening area. The loudspeakers’ measured
frequency response is extremely flat, yielding outstanding tonal accuracy,
and the speakers are equally adept at reproducing movies and music
with an effortless musical presentation.
Opus2
loudspeakers are built to the highest standard, utilizing variable-density
multilayer cabinets made from Australian eucalyptus and pine, blended
with synthetic fibers to create rigid, highly damped enclosures. Additional
refinements include high-purity oxygen-free copper internal wiring,
vibration-free crossover mountings, premium-grade capacitors and more.
Unlike
many loudspeakers, Wharfedale Opus2 models are designed and built
completely in-house, from their drivers and internal components to
their striking, painstakingly finished cabinets. This vertical integration
enables Wharfedale to have complete design and quality control over
every aspect of every loudspeaker. In addition, the company can employ
materials and techniques that are unavailable to other companies.
Wharfedale
Opus2 loudspeakers are now available in the U.S.
