WAVES COLLABORATES WITH TOP RECORDING
ARTISTS, PRODUCERS AND ENGINEERS
— “Waves Masters” to appear at Winter NAMM —
WINTER NAMM SHOW, ANAHEIM, CA, January 15, 2009
— This year at Winter NAMM, Waves will be hosting appearances
by eight “Waves Masters.” These top producers, engineers
and musicians will be on hand to meet with fans and demonstrate their
use of Waves plug-ins, including those products developed as collaborative
efforts. Among those speaking will be Eddie Kramer, Jack Joseph Puig,
Tony Maserati, Andrew Scheps, Ross Hogarth, Dave Pensado and others.
Over the past year, Waves has placed a strong emphasis
on collaborative partnerships, resulting in a number of new products,
promotions and special events. “Waves is committed to giving our
users more than just sound tools,” commented Gilad Keren, CEO
of Waves Ltd. “By working with the very masters that create the
hits, we have the chance to offer our customers an over-the-shoulder
look at how it really works. We plan to continue this collaborative
approach through 2009 and beyond, always seeking new relationships that
can bring about interesting and practical tools for our customers.”
Eddie Kramer
In March 2008, Waves and Eddie Kramer — legendary producer/engineer
for such classic acts as Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, and Kiss —
embarked on a nationwide tour entitled “Studio Classics Collection
Experience.” These events saw Kramer, along with Waves Product
Specialists, discussing, demonstrating and celebrating Waves’
powerful vintage modeled plug-ins. The events hosted capacity crowds
as the tour continued through June. In September, Waves and Kramer teamed
up once again for “The Waves Logic® Studio Tour,” in
order to demonstrate Waves plug-ins in conjunction with Logic Studio
and other Apple professional audio applications. The tour was presented
in association with Apple Pro Audio Resellers.
Jack Joseph Puig
This year also saw the first results of an ongoing partnership with
iconic producer/mixer Jack Joseph Puig (JJP). In May, Waves offered
free Puig presets for download, and in July, they introduced the Jack
Joseph Puig Collection, a series of plug-ins based on Puig’s own
priceless collection of best-in-the-world vintage gear. Puig and Waves’
R&D team collaborated closely for over three years prior to the
collection’s debut. It was launched at a major industry event
where Puig treated leading members of the Los Angeles audio community,
as well as journalists and members of the press, to an intimate one-on-one
discussion about his personal arsenal of classic vintage processors,
as well as the hardware’s significance in recording history, and
how that gear was integrated into the development of the JJP Collection.
Tony Maserati
This Winter NAMM, Waves will be releasing the first in its new Signature
Series, The Tony Maserati Collection, featuring 6 custom-engineered
plug-ins created in collaboration with the multi-platinum mixing engineer
responsible for hits by Beyonce, Jay Z, Alicia Keys and countless others.
Neil Citron
November also saw the expansion of Waves’ GTR3 with modeled amps
and cabs from GRAMMY®-winning guitar ace Neil Citron. As a guitar
tech and recording engineer for six-string superheroes like Steve Vai,
Steve Lukather and Larry Carlton, nobody knows more than Neil about
how to get great guitar sounds, and Citron offered his customized vintage
Carvin®, Ibanez® and Marshall® amps, as well as handmade
cabs and hand-picked microphones, as the basis for a new set of precision
models for the GTR3.
Artist Presets
Additionally, throughout the year, Waves offered Waves Masters artist
presets for free download on the company’s website. In 2008, Steve
Lillywhite, Mike Hedges, and Dave Pensado became the first Waves Masters
to share their favorite Waves presets with the audio community.
