LEADING ARTISTS LOOK TO VOX VALVETRONIX™
FOR ITS SOUNDS, VERSATILITY, AND EASE OF USE

— Train’s Charlie Colin and Jimmy Stafford, and guitarist Bibi McGill
agree with producer Bob Rock — VOX Valvetronix modeling amps
provide the tones they need, whether in the studio or on the road —

VOX Valvetronix™ digital modeling amplifiers have earned worldwide acclaim for their ability to combine the authentic sound and feel of a classic guitar amp with an array of realistic modeling options and a powerful set of effects. Their versatile approach to making music is suited to today’s artists both in the studio and on tour.

Train’s Charlie Colin remarks on the Valvetronix features that immediately attracted him: “Vintage sounding tones and total versatility, with immediate access to them — that’s what I like about it. I didn’t have to spend hours trying to figure it out; the sounds are pretty much there and easy to manipulate. In the same session, I can have 15 unique tones, and it doesn’t require hours and hours of setting up and mic’ing.” His bandmate Jimmy Stafford has used Valvetronix to record demos at home for the new Train album, and looks forward to using it live. “What I’m going to enjoy is that instead of having the one generic sound I typically use now throughout a show, I’ll be able to get specific, individual sounds for each song at the touch of a button. It’s gonna make my sound more diverse,” he explains.

Bibi McGill has worked with Pink, Sting, Cypress Hill, India.Arie, and is currently guitarist for Latin songstress Paulina Rubio. As she explains, “I’m not a very technically inclined person so I’ve always avoided MIDI, modeling amps, and effects. When I saw the Valvetronix, I was afraid of it.” However, she continues, “After five minutes [of instruction], I programmed all of the settings for each song on the set list I was about to tour with. I was blown away by how easy it is to operate, plus it has the best built-in effects I’ve ever heard. It’s jam-packed with great features, and it’s stereo, which eliminates lugging around two huge cabinets. It’s small so you can just pick it up and go — great for smaller gigs or the stadiums too,” McGill concludes.

Noted producer, engineer, and musician Bob Rock, who has collaborated with such distinct talents as The Cult, Mötley Crüe, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Metallica, and Cher, talks about his Valvetronix 120 Watt Head and 4x12" cabinet: “It’s something that I go to everyday and just plug my guitar in and go through the sounds. It’s very well laid out and easy to get the hang of. To me, the four by twelve cab is a classic kind of VOX look. I like amps that look big, too. I love my AC30’s, but I just like the whole look of the new Valvetronix four by twelve with the head. I think it’s pretty cool. The other thing I liked instantaneously was that across the board, it has some really unique tones. It’s a great amp for any working musician who needs a lot of different sounds — this is the all-in-one type of amp.” He adds, “Plus the tube section makes all the difference to me. I heard it right away, and I was like ‘wow, I’m impressed.’”

Bob Rock is looking forward to working with Our Lady Peace on their new album, and intends to make use of Valvetronix while in the studio. Charlie Collin and Jimmy Stafford are currently touring in support of Train’s third album release, My Private Nation. For more information, see the band’s website at www.trainline.com. Bibi McGill is in the midst of writing and recording an album of her own, which she promises will have “a truckload of attitude with no apologies!” Please visit www.bibimcgill.com for more information.
