SCOTT PATTON AND VOX TAKE CENTER STAGE WITH SUGARLAND
MELVILLE, NY, February 9, 2009 — Over five years ago, Atlanta-based musician Scott Patton took a hiatus from his successful band Ten Story Relapse to take over the reins as Musical Director and Guitarist for the chart-topping group Sugarland. The band’s most recent collection, Love on the Inside, made history by taking the number one position on both the pop and country charts within weeks of its release. Sugarland has also been touring extensively in support of the album.
Through it all, Scott Patton and VOX continue to help mold Sugarland's winning sound. Patton swears by his AC30HH hand-wired Heritage Series VOX amplifier. The original AC30 was the amp that led the British Invasion, and this latest incarnation includes the classic 1958 sound, as well as the legendary 1963 “Top Boost” VOX tone – all in one amplifier. Patton’s hand-wired V212H is the perfect speaker cabinet to complement his amp.
Recently, Patton has also taken up the VOX Virage™ as his guitar of choice. “This is a great guitar! I have been using it a good bit in the studio on some Sugarland recordings as well as with several artists from the Atlanta area and my own project, Ten Story Relapse,” he explains. “The thing I love most about the Virage is the versatility factor that the VOX Three-90™ pickup system offers. I can have a big, harmonically driven tone or a smooth single coil sound or a blend of them both – all with a user friendly, logical switching system. In addition to Sugarland and his other projects, Patton reunited with founding members Mark Milam, John Douglas and the rest of Ten Story Relapse in Atlanta this past January, opening for Shawn Mullins in a benefit gig to support the Atlanta Chapter of The Recording Academy®.
