VOX AMPLIFICATION ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF THE VOX GOLD AWARDS AND OFFERS A GLIMPSE INTO THE NEXT 50 YEARS
WINTER NAMM SHOW, ANAHEIM, CA, January 17, 2008 — As a finale to the VOX 50th anniversary (1957-2007) celebration, the company has announced the winners of its VOX Gold Awards. In recognition of the talented artists who have made VOX a part of their signature sound, consumers were asked to vote online for their favorite Classic and Contemporary VOX users, as well as Wah Wah pedal users. Over 1200 votes were cast, and the Best Contemporary VOX User award went to The Edge of U2, while the Beatles won in the Classic category. The “Golden Wah” award went to Jimi Hendrix.
Looking ahead, VOX is hinting at the next 50 years. One such glimpse is in the form of a concept “Continental Organ” that will be at VOX’s NAMM booth. This future product will evoke the spirit of the legendary VOX Continental from the 60s (used on many hits from the British Invasion), complete with retro-style reverse-color keys, along with some contemporary updates. In the past decade, VOX has significantly enhanced its range of amplification offerings under the VOX name. The company has committed itself in 2008 to once again focusing on additional sound-creation areas, such as effects and keyboard offerings, as it has in the past. As with many current VOX technology products, these future offerings will combine VOX’s expertise in sound and amplification with new techniques.
