INDUSTRY OPEN HOUSE TO BE HELD AT SAE INSTITUTE’S NEWLY ESTABLISHED
NEW YORK CAMPUS
— SAE opens its doors as a community-wide resource for audio and
industry professionals in the New York area —
Following their Grand Opening events and programs held
during the 2003 AES Convention, SAE Institute is hosting an industry-wide
open house highlighting their New York campus facility located on Herald
Square in Midtown Manhattan. Key engineers, producers, media, equipment
manufacturers and members of the press are invited to attend as SAE
sets its sights on even greater involvement and integration into the
unique musical marketplace for which New York City is known.
SAE New York Campus Information
Conveniently located in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, SAE’s
New York campus studio and instruction complex houses 33 studios/technology
labs/personal workstations, providing an array of state-of-the-art studio
setups and situations. The complex’s main studios house state-of-the-art
recording consoles including a Neve 88R and an SSL4000 G+, respectively,
along with an additional Control 24 Surround Suite complete with THx
certified monitoring from Blue Sky International. The facility, which
is now 50% larger than SAE New York’s original location, also
contains 3 ProTools Suites with Macintosh G5’s and Mackie HD2
recorders, 3 isolated MIDI Production Suites, and four audio-enhanced
classrooms. The school’s wide ranging audio curriculum covers
areas from surround sound and DVD authoring, to large-format console
studio and mix sessions. The layout and design of the studios also allow
for interactive connectivity between rooms, producing an all-encompassing
environment for students and staff to help boost productivity and creativity.
SAE has already become an important fixture in New York
City’s thriving audio and entertainment industries, providing
an important supply of audio professionals prepared for today’s
demanding positions in audio engineering and production. The facility
has played host to several key industry events, including the second
of SAE Institute’s own Platinum Series World Tour programs, which
serve as educational, as well as historical, interactive documentaries
on some of the greatest engineers and producers in the music business,
including industry veterans such as Jimmy Douglass (Missy Elliot), Alan
Parsons (Pink Floyd), Trina Shoemaker (Sheryl Crow), and Don Was (Rolling
Stones). Unique technology events, guest speakers, panel discussions,
and demonstrations from many of SAE’s Educational Partners and
special event sponsors continue to be featured at this cutting-edge
facility.
“Our biggest concentration since we opened our first
campus 28 years ago has been to provide the most realistic and individual
experience in the recording studio,” stated Tom Misner, SAE Institute’s
CEO and founder. “We pride ourselves on being able to provide
real training for the world of audio, and that means offering the most
hands-on time on the latest equipment for an affordable tuition that
students see as a real value. Throughout our program, our teachers and
guest lecturers provide SAE students with individual instruction and
guidance for a solid, practical knowledge base that will serve them
throughout their career,” Misner concludes.
