FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SAE INSTITUTE’S djschool@sae CELEBRATES 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF
TURNTABLE ESSENCE PROGRAM
— Unique DJ courses at SAE’s Miami campus set the standard
for the burgeoning DJ market—
SAE Institute’s djschool@sae Turntable Essence program broke new
ground in audio education with the commencement of SAE’s first
class at its Miami campus in May of 2003. After a highly successful
year and dozens of graduates, SAE has established itself as the premiere
training grounds for DJs and Turntablists from across the globe, providing
unique opportunities and advanced practical training in a hands-on environment.
Widely acclaimed for its pro audio educational programs,
djschool@sae offers another innovative aspect to SAE Institute’s
longstanding worldwide leadership in technical audio instruction and
training. Introducing both beginning tablists and established DJs to
advanced techniques and technologies, SAE’s Turntable Essence
program has established itself as a forerunner in helping students of
the turntable arts master their instrument while gaining the musical
and technical knowledge necessary to compete in the industry. Students
are offered a combination of DJ-specific classroom curricula and instructional
lectures, professional demonstrations, and interactive lab assignments.
Limited to groups of 12 students or less, classes provide comprehensive
coverage of equipment and formats, styles of scratching and mixing,
advanced recording and production, and a business overview of the DJ’s
role in the music industry. Students gain further involvement through
the many events and sponsorships that SAE Institute and the djschool@sae
programs have participated in, including concerts and music festivals
such as 311, Lollapalooza, and OzzFest. Furthermore, djschool@sae has
also maintained a strong presence at Miami’s acclaimed Winter
Music Conference and Ultra Music Festival, exhibiting a wide variety
of DJ gear and techniques, along with special guest performances and
instructional showcases.
djshcool@sae additionally has hosted performances from
leading tablists such as Africa (Jungle Brothers), Mista Long (Black
Sheep), DJ Stryke, DJ Infamous, DJ Immortal, DJ I-Merge, DJ K-Razor,
and Ian Sugarman. The program has also drawn international attention
through exposure on Latin television networks such as MUN2 and Telefuturo,
as well as recognition by leading manufacturers of professional DJ equipment
through educational partnerships and endorsements. Led by head DJ instructor
Jay Borland (DJ Jase), who helped establish the original program, and
veteran tablist DJ Immortal, of Fader Ballistix affiliation, djschool@sae
has already graduated five classes and continues new enrollment for
the program every two months.
“We are proud of the success that our djschool@sae
program has garnered over the past year,” states Tom Misner, SAE
Institute’s founder and CEO. “Our students have already
begun to find great success in this part of the country, as well as
in the clubs and studios of major markets like New York and Los Angeles.
SAE is able to provide an unparalleled experience, incorporating our
state-of-the-art facilities and our own experienced instructors to present
a well-rounded program which encourages technical prowess, but also
keeps the focus on the art of the DJ. We stress this, again, through
the many professional DJs and artists we work closely with as a school
for providing valuable insight to our class curriculum and bringing
these artists’ first-hand experience to our students. With our
continued growth, SAE’s djschool@sae will continue to take a leading
role in providing technical and artistic training for DJs and tablists
worldwide,” Misner concludes.
