FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SAE INSTITUTE CAMPUSES WORLDWIDE TO BECOME
"DIGIDESIGN SPONSORED SCHOOLS"
— SAE furthers Pro Tools training and experience for students
with additional courses, expanded hardware and software integration
—
NEW YORK, NY, November 17, 2004 — Worldwide leader
in pro audio education, SAE Institute, is pleased to announce a new
Digidesign Pro Tools sponsored curriculum for all students enrolled
in its Audio Technology Program. The new courses, to be offered in conjunction
with Educational Partner Digidesign, will provide complete Pro Tools
training to students worldwide as the entire network of SAE campuses
become designated Digidesign Sponsored Schools.
Raising the standard of its network of professional recording
and educational facilities, SAE’s new Digidesign Sponsored School
status heralds a mutually beneficial partnership for students and studios
alike. Digidesign hardware and software are integral to SAE’s
audio programs, which also incorporate course material from Digidesign’s
exclusive Training and Education Program. Students already using a wide
array of Pro Tools setups and configurations will benefit as SAE continues
to advance its technical excellence. Topics outlined in the new curriculum
are designed to teach foundational as well as advanced skills for the
Pro Tools environment, as well as give students an independent understanding
of the capabilities of such equipment in the studio.
This announcement follows several significant purchases
and upgrades for many of SAE Institute’s Digidesign product-based
studios and educational facilities worldwide. One of the latest acquisitions
— the purchase of 10 Digidesign ICON consoles, the “integrated
console environment” — provides access to the most intuitive
tactile control surface available for Pro Tools systems. This included
the first-ever European installation of the ICON console at SAE’s
Amsterdam campus, as well as subsequent installations at SAE facilities
in Barcelona, Cologne, Hamburg, Vienna, Sydney, Byron Bay and Munich,
as well as upcoming units to be delivered to Berlin and Los Angeles.
Concurrent upgrades of over 30 of SAE’s numerous workstations
to the acclaimed Pro Tools|HD Accel core DSP engine, and 20 units of
the acclaimed Focusrite Liquid Channel microphone preamp, with supported
Pro Tools integration, have also been added to SAE campuses around the
world. The Liquid Channel features new preamp technology and dynamic
convolution techniques to produce a wide variety of preamp and compressor
combinations.
Furthermore, SAE has enabled an even deeper collaboration
between the student and Digidesign’s industry-standard technology
by supplying each student with the Pro Tools LE recording system, including
a Digidesign Mbox Studio Music Production System interface and fully
loaded Apple iBook G4 laptop. The Mbox brings audio and MIDI recording,
editing, real-time mixing and Internet collaboration together with acclaimed
Digidesign and Focusrite performance, in a portable package. Utilizing
this system allows students access to wireless networking and recording
technologies throughout SAE campuses, and provides a powerful recording
platform that encourages learning both on and off campus.
SAE Institute Vice President Rudi Grieme commented, “The
new course implementation is a culmination of what we have been doing
with Digidesign for years, through various partnerships and programs
around the world. To be able to give our students this new, tangible
designation is above and beyond what any educational institute can independently
offer. It’s really a forward-thinking approach to not just the
education of our students, but also to the opportunities they will be
presented with after graduation. Their hands-on experience with Digidesign
technology at our campuses is made that much more valuable by SAE’s
ability to stay on top of the latest technologies and trends in gear.
When you back that with a generation of students who are comfortable
with the idea of carrying a complete Pro Tools system in their backpack
— along with the fact that they are virtually trained by the manufacturer
how to use it — I think we represent a whole new level of integrity
for prospective employers and for the future of audio technology. SAE
is committed to maintaining this high standard, and we are excited about
what our continued Educational Partnership with Digidesign will hold
in the future.”
