SAE INSTITUTE UPGRADES SURROUND CONTROL ROOM AT
NEW YORK CAMPUS
— Facility now features a Digidesign ICON D-Control™
ES, Pro Tools® HD system
and Blue Sky 5.1 surround speaker system —
125th AES CONVENTION, SAN FRANCISCO, CA, October
3, 2008 — SAE Institute is pleased to announce that it has
upgraded the surround mixing room of its New York campus with the addition
of a 32-fader Digidesign ICON D-Control™ ES with surround panel.
The room also features a Pro Tools® HD system and a Blue Sky 5.1
surround speaker system. This newly-installed equipment will help SAE
maintain its leading edge in audio and digital media/arts education
and provide students access to the latest state-of-the-art audio equipment
used in real world recording studio applications.
At the heart of the campus’s surround mixing room
is Digidesign’s ICON D-Control ES Worksurface, which combines
the feel of a large-format console with a level of control and added
Pro Tools HD functionality that can only be accessed with an ICON system.
For accurate monitoring, a Blue Sky 5.1 Sky System One surround speaker
system has been employed, consisting of five SAT 6.5 speakers for the
L-C-R and rear arrays and a SUB 12 subwoofer. In related news, SAE NY
has also installed a Yamaha 02R96 Digital Mixing Console in an additional
campus mixing suite.
SAE’s New York campus studio and instruction complex
houses 33 studios/technology labs/personal workstations, offering students
the maximum amount of hands-on time and providing an array of studio
setups and situations. The school’s wide ranging audio curriculum
covers areas from surround sound and DVD authoring to large-format console
studio and mix sessions. The layout and design of the studios also allow
for interactive connectivity between rooms, producing an all-encompassing
environment for students and staff to help boost productivity and creativity.
“We are constantly looking to provide our students
access to the latest equipment that they will be working on when they
graduate SAE,” stated Udo Hoppenworth, Senior Vice President of
SAE Institute Group, Inc. “The Digidesign ICON D-Control ES with
surround capabilities gives them exactly that, and we are dedicated
to providing our students with state-of-the-art tools and instruction.”
