SAE LAUNCHES ALUMNI ASSOCIATION FOR ITS U.S. SCHOOLS
– The formation of a U.S. alumni organization signals a milestone
in SAE’s growth in the U.S., which now has five locations from
which over
1,200 graduates have started successful careers –
123rd AES CONVENTION, NEW YORK, NY, October 5, 2007 – SAE,
the world’s largest media arts and technology education institution,
is pleased to announce the formation of an alumni association dedicated
to graduates of its United States campuses. Via the web portal www.sae-alumni.org,
graduates can utilize an array of social and professional networking
benefits relevant to their chosen career path.
Within weeks of the website’s launch, over 60% of
the more than 1,200 graduates of SAE schools in the U.S. have responded
positively, with many already posting their resumes and discographies
on the site, where potential employers can access them. The first annual
alumni convention for U.S. graduates is planned for 2008, and membership
will be free of charge for the rest of 2007. SAE is world’s largest
media technology education facility and the only institution to have
school locations in Europe, the United States, Asia, Australia and the
Indian subcontinent. In the U.S., SAE has campuses in New York, Nashville,
Miami, Los Angeles and most recently Atlanta, which opened in August
2007.
The U.S. SAE alumni association will be modeled on the
European ones, which have been extremely successful and popular, according
to Paul Hughes, Director of the SAE Los Angeles school and who has been
supervising the launch of the U.S. alumni website. “The social
and professional networking that these associations and their websites
and conventions offer is incredible,” says Hughes, adding that
additional benefits, including discounts for members with various SAE
Industry Partners, and subscriptions to SAE’s own magazine, will
be added in the near future. “But the initial goal will be to
foster the network of graduates and use that to help with job placement
and otherwise furthering their careers after graduation.”
Graduates of SAE form a self-reinforcing resource, helping
each other with their collective experience both during and after their
academic careers. The new U.S. alumni association will significantly
enhance that, says Dr. Tom Misner, the renowned engineer, mixer and
producer who founded SAE in Sydney over 30 years ago, who notes that
the sheer size of the U.S. compared to European countries can make staying
in touch a little more difficult. But, as importantly, he notes, the
establishment of the U.S. alumni association reflects how decisively
SAE has managed to establish itself in the world’s largest and
most affluent media technology education market. “With schools
in five cities and over 1,200 graduates, we’ve reached a milestone
in SAE’s move into the U.S. market,” he explains. “We
have arrived on yet another professional level which will only help
further our students into the next phase of their careers.”
