THE ORDER OF THE BRITISH EMPIRE
MELVILLE, NY, March 30, 2004 — Jim Marshall, founder of Marshall Amplification, is renowned the world over for his contributions to the sound of modern music. Mr. Marshall can now add another distinguished achievement to his impressive list, as he has been formally awarded the Order of the British Empire, a coveted honor bestowed to those who render valuable service to the United Kingdom and its people. Mr. Marshall will now be known as “Jim Marshall, OBE” to signify this order of chivalry, which is just one level under Knighthood.The award was established in 1917 to recognize extraordinary efforts and vision in a wide range of activities, and its recipients are nominated by admirers of their accomplishments.
