MASTODON STEPS UP WITH MARSHALL AMPS

MELVILLE, NY, May 8, 2009 — Marshall Amplifiers have long been the amp of choice for modern metal music, and the popular band Mastodon is no exception. Their latest recording – the concept-album Crack the Skye – debuted at # 11 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. Guitarists Brent Hinds and Bill Kelliher both rely on Marshall for their signature sound. As Kelliher states, “I love Marshall’s great vintage, warm tube sound.”

Kelliher goes on to describe his current Marshall-based studio approach: “I usually go for my old JCM800 dual channel for the meat and potatoes of the riffs… I top it all off with overdubs by the KK [2203KK Kerry King Signature] and JCM800 2203 Vintage re-issue, and we’re all good!”

Mastodon will wind down their U.S. tour dates in their hometown of Atlanta before heading on to the U.K. and Europe. Hinds and Kelliher will have their trusty Marshall amps with them for the entire tour.
