CONRAD OBERG PUTS MARSHALL AMPS CENTER STAGE AT WOODSTOCK ONCE AGAIN

MELVILLE, NY, September 9, 2009 — Musician Conrad Oberg and his Marshall Amplifiers recently made musical history together as Oberg re-created Jimi Hendrix’ Marshall-powered version of “The Star Spangled Banner” to open the Bethel Woods Music Festival, the 40th Anniversary of Woodstock.

The fifteen-year-old musician is already a seasoned veteran. Legally blind from birth, Oberg taught himself to play piano at the early age of two and a half, and recorded his first album, Decade, before he was ten years old. At age ten, he picked up the guitar and quickly mastered the instrument. Since then, he’s met and played with many of the blues community’s greatest players.

When the invitation came from The Heroes of Woodstock to open the 40th Anniversary of Woodstock show, Oberg responded, “I learned to play electric guitar by listening to Jimi Hendrix play at Woodstock, so I can’t even tell you what an honor it is. I feel like I’m standing in for a friend that would have loved to have been there. I can only hope he would’ve been proud of the job I do.”

A true gear-head, Oberg collected all the vintage effect pedals originally used at Woodstock in preparation for his performance. In the end, though, he ended up using only the wah-wah pedal, and relied on his Marshall Vintage Modern amp stack to provide the precise tone and overdrive control he needed to pay homage to the original performance from 40 years ago.

On August 15, 2009, Conrad Oberg's amazing Woodstock performance was the perfect inspirational kick-off to the festivities, and once again placed Marshall Amps firmly into rock history.
