LightViper™ Shines At West Point Concert Series

Annapolis Junction, MD, October, 2007 — FiberPlex, Inc., announced that their LightViper™ audio transport system was recently acquired by The United States Military Academy Band for their annual Trophy Point Concert Series. A total of fourteen free public concerts were presented this summer at the Trophy Point Amphitheatre at the United States Military Academy at West Point that overlooks the picturesque Hudson River Valley. The 55-piece band’s Saturday evening Labor Day concert included the 1812 Overture replete with a dramatic fireworks display and drew a crowd of several thousand. The “plug n’ play” LightViper fiber optic audio “snake” system was recently purchased by The U.S. Military Academy Band for both on-campus concerts and is also planned for use on their road show itinerary. The band performs throughout the year in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor venues, both private and public.

Blair Ferrier, Audio Technician for the U.S.M.A. Band, commented on his experience using the LightViper for the first time:
“The new fiber transport system worked perfectly at all 14 concerts. The series went entirely noise-free; considering the outdoor environment and known grounding issues we have at this venue, it was a pleasure not having to worry about those problems.
At one point this summer I had a noise issue with an electronic keyboard. My natural reaction was to find out where things could be wrong in the signal loop; a few seconds later I realized it wasn’t ‘my problem’ exactly. It turned out that there was a bad keyboard amp. In the past, I could have chased my tail for a couple of hours— but with the fiber optics snake now, I simply eliminated most excuses.
And, to be honest, not having to roll-up a heavy copper snake each week after a performance seems a little bit like cheating to me!”
