KORG KEEPS THE MUSIC GOING FOR
VH1 SAVE THE MUSIC’S “FAMILY DAY”
— American Museum of Natural History explores the world of music,
inviting families for hands-on experience with Korg gear and more —
MELVILLE, NY, May 9, 2005 — The VH1 Save The Music Foundation
declared Sunday, April 10th “Family Day” at the American
Museum of Natural History. The Museum hosted a special music day for
families in its Milstein Hall of Ocean Life as part of New York City’s
“Save The Music Week” (April 4th-11th).
Over 500 parents and children visited the Museum’s
“instrument petting zoo,” which offered a unique hands-on
experience with musical instruments. Learning labs featured Korg keyboards
and a GEC3 Group Education Controller, as well as ToneWorks Pandora
personal signal processors for electric guitar instruction — all
set up underneath the famous giant whale hanging from the Museum ceiling.
Families also enjoyed performances from critically acclaimed singer
and pianist Peter Cincotti, among others.
*The VH1 Save The Music Foundation is a non-profit organization
dedicated to improving the quality of education in America’s public
schools by restoring music programs in cities across the country, and
raising public awareness about the importance of music participation
for our nation’s youth. The Foundation purchases new musical instruments
to restore music education programs that have been cut because of budget
reductions and to save programs at risk of elimination due to lack of
instruments. It also conducts awareness campaigns, musical instrument
drives and fundraising events.
