KORG RELEASES MAJOR OPERATING SYSTEM ENHANCEMENTS
FOR PROFESSIONAL ARRANGERS

MELVILLE, NY, May 23, 2005 — Korg announces Operating System Version 2.5 for its flagship arranger keyboards, the Pa1X and Pa1XPro. This new update is available free of charge at www.korgpa.com. A full set of Korg Musical Resources offering new Sounds, Drumkits and Performance settings supporting Version 2.5 has been prepared, and is also available for free download.

OS v2.5 offers more than 30 enhancements and new functions, including many requested from Pa Series users. Main highlights include:

• "Expert" Chord Recognition: Provides advanced recognition of so-called "rootless" Jazz chords. This allows advanced players to move away from the limits of standard chord voicings, while the Style continues to play the correct bass figure.

• Volume Link: Moving a single fader will raise (or lower) the output level of all the individual Style parts, while preserving their current proportional mix. This function can also be applied to the Real Time performance parts.

• GM Best Sound Substitution: This powerful new feature can automatically substitute high-quality Pa1XPro and Pa1X Real eXperience (RX) sounds when playing Standard MIDI Files created on non-Pa series products, in place of the limited GM sound set.

• Expanded “Lock” Page: The ability to prevent certain parameters from changing when switching between Styles has been expanded to include the Lower Voice setting, the Chord Scanning mode, etc. To accommodate these new functions, the “lock” page has been updated for faster navigation.

• Fast Play: Another big plus for live performance, it allows the sequencer to grab header information early, so that Song playback can begin instantly as soon as the play button is pressed.

• Players can now also overwrite all of the factory sounds with their own sound creations.

• The selection of Aftertouch curves now includes an “off” setting.

• New Performance settings featuring multiple splits have been added. The musician can use these as templates for creating their own three and four zone split keyboard set-ups.
