KORG INTRODUCES THE PITCHBLACK™,
A COMPACT, CHROMATIC, PEDALBOARD-READY TUNER

— Guitar/bass pedal tuner features high visibility display, true bypass output,
KORG +/-1 cent accuracy and four tuning modes including strobe —

WINTER NAMM SHOW, ANAHEIM, CA, January 17, 2008 — Korg announces the pitchblack™ tuner as part of its newly-created advanced tuner series. It combines high precision and functionality in a rugged die-cast aluminum package designed to withstand the rigors of road use. The pitchblack is the size of a compact effect unit but boasts a large, easy-to-read LED display providing superb visibility in all lighting conditions and from any angle.

Equipped with 100% true bypass, the pitchblack ensures that a player’s tone remains intact and uncolored, whether the tuner is used independently or in a pedalboard as part of a chain of effects. The tuner’s 9-Volt DC output jack makes it possible to cascade power to other pedals when chaining effects.

The pitchblack’s precise tuning accuracy, +/-1 cent, is supported by four different tuning modes: Meter, Full Strobe, Half Strobe and Mirror. Meter mode is analogous to a needle-style meter. In Full Strobe mode, the LED meter stops streaming and both tuning guide LEDs light up when the correct pitch is achieved. In Half Strobe mode, the LEDs flow to the right of center if the instrument is sharp and to the left of center if it is flat; when the correct pitch is achieved, only the center LED lights up. Mirror mode uses a combination of LEDs to indicate how close or far a note is to the correct pitch; when in tune, the two LEDs on the left and right sides of the center LED meet in the middle of the display.

The pitchblack provides a broad detection range from E0 (20.60 Hz) to C8 (4186 Hz) and adjustable calibration from 436-445 Hz. Boasting a lightweight body (0.64 lb including battery) designed to fit conveniently into a pedal-board system, the pitchblack measures 2.67" (W) × 4.72" (H) × 1.85" (D) (including feet).

The Korg pitchblack Chromatic Pedal Tuner will be available April 2008 with a U.S. MSRP of $150.00. As with all Korg tuners, it comes complete with an extended three year warranty.
