KORG DEBUTS VERSATILE NEW PANDORA PX5D PERSONAL MULTI-EFFECTS PROCESSOR
AND USB RECORDING INTERFACE
— New processor offers the latest effects technology
in the first computer-ready Pandora unit —
WINTER NAMM SHOW, ANAHEIM, CA, January 17, 2008
— Korg announces the PX5D personal multi-effect processor and
recording interface for guitar and bass. It is the newest member of
Korg’s popular Pandora series known for packing dozens of realistic
modeling effects and a multitude of live, practice and recording functions
into pocket-sized units. The PX5D is the first computer-ready Pandora
(via USB) for direct recording, and offers new features such as footswitch
control for live use, a variety of new models and effects and enhanced
editing/modulation capability.
The USB audio interface (a first for the Pandora series)
enables easy data transfer to computers and DAW recording (with USB
audio, the PX5D doubles as a direct recording interface). In addition,
the PX5D comes with Ableton Live Lite 6 Korg Edition recording software
along with dedicated editor/librarian software that lets the user edit
and manage programs from a computer.
“The PX5D breaks new ground in recording and editing
capability and functionality. For the first time ever,” says Mike
Bradley, product manager for Korg’s Pandora series of effects,
“guitarists can use the Pandora as their ‘silver bullet’
to practice, perform live, and record (PC or Mac) via USB. This is by
far the most versatile Pandora to date.”
Utilizing proprietary “REMS” modeling technology,
the PX5D provides a total of 180 realistic effects (up to seven simultaneous
effects), including amp and cabinet models that can be freely interchanged,
resulting in a multitude of sounds not possible on the original amps
and cabinets themselves. Additionally, the PX5D includes synth effects,
pickup modeling, intelligent pitch shifter, talk effect, violin/cello-style
“slow attack,” feedback effect, velocity-controlled rotary
speaker effect, a fretless bass simulator, numerous bass-specific effects
and many others. The effects are organized in user-friendly banks (100
preset programs; 100 user), and favorite programs can be assigned to
program memory buttons for one-touch access. The PX5D also includes
128 Rhythm and Bass patterns for jamming and practicing.
The PX5D’s increased memory allows recording of
up to 80 seconds from an external audio source (MP3, CD, etc.) and looping
at different speeds without affecting pitch. While in Phrase Trainer
mode, users can also record their own accompaniment, along with built-in
rhythm and bass patterns, then play it back and practice lead over the
recorded phrase. Also included are Key Transpose and Bass Canceller
functions.
The easy-to-read, backlit LCD display, intuitive interface
and TAP tempo button make the PX5D simple to operate. Additional features
include a built-in Korg Auto Chromatic Tuner and a foot switch jack,
allowing users to control the PX5D from the floor for live use.
The PX5D measures 4.65" x 2.95" x 0.79".
Power is provided by two (2) AA alkaline batteries, the optional AC
adapter or via USB connection. The unit features a 1/4" guitar
input and a mini stereo AUX input, as well as an all-purpose stereo
output.
The Korg Pandora PX5D personal multi-effect processor and recording
interface is currently available for a U.S. MSRP of $330. For more product
