Korg Now Shipping Easy-to-Read MA-1 Solo Metronome

— New display design aids practice and rhythm training —

MELVILLE, NY, August 24, 2011 — Korg is now shipping the compact MA-1 Solo Metronome, available in two popular color options. In addition to a traditional audible beat indicator, the MA-1 also features an enhanced display for accurate beat keeping and rhythm training. The MA-1 can serve as a chromatic pitch source for tuning any instrument as well.

In addition to a swinging metronome style needle, the MA-1’s new display design represents the beats in a given measure as outlined triangle-shaped icons. As the beats progress, each icon changes from an outlined triangle to a solid triangle. A quick glance will let the user see what beat of the pattern is being played, or how far the pattern has progressed. This delivers a large advantage over units that only display the current beat.

The MA-1 provides a number of advanced options. The tempo may be set using traditional mechanical metronome settings (i.e. “Pendulum” steps), or freely set to any tempo from 30 to 252 beats per minute. A Tap Tempo button also allows for quickly setting the tempo on the fly.

Using the Beat Mode, any value from zero through nine beats may be selected; the selected beat will be accented. Additionally, one of eight Rhythm Patterns may be selected, ranging from straight quarter notes to multiple triplet and quadruplet variations. There is a built-in speaker, plus a headphone output with an adjustable level control. The MA-1 can also double as a chromatic sound source, providing a reference pitch (C4-B4) for tuning nearly any instrument. The Calibration for these reference pitches can be set over a range of 410Hz - 480Hz. All user settings are also retained when powered off. Two AAA alkaline batteries will provide nearly 300 hours of continuous use. An auto-off feature preserves battery life after 20 minutes of non-use. A collapsible tilt-back stand offers support for easy viewing.

The MA-1 is available in either Black and Red (MA1RD), or Blue and Black (MA1BL).

The shirt-pocket size MA-1 models are now available at a U.S. MSRP of $40.00.
