FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD PRESENTED TO
KORG FOUNDER TSUTOMU KATOH AT MUSIKMESSE
— Korg founder and Korg products honored at international awards
ceremony —
At the 5th annual Musikmesse International Press Award
(MIPA) Ceremony, held recently in Frankfurt, Germany, the Musical Instrument/Pro
Audio community gathered to recognize outstanding contributions in the
industry. Mr. Tsutomu Katoh, founder and chairman of Korg, was the recipient
of the MIPA Lifetime Achievement Award for his strategic vision and
entrepreneurial spirit since the early 1960s. The award presentation
included a video tribute from longtime Korg user Keith Emerson, who
offered his personal congratulations.
Mr. Katoh expressed his appreciation, commenting, “It
is a great honor to receive such a memorable award. Though music and
instruments have changed a lot over our 40 year history, we would like
to always keep in mind the importance of making products that are truly
useful for musicians around the world.”
In addition, Korg was honored for its achievements in
product development. This year’s award for “Best Keyboard
Workstation” went to the TRITON series, while the Electribe series
was dubbed “Best Groove Box.” The TRITON award marks Korg’s
fourth win out of five nominations in the keyboard workstation category
in MIPA’s five-year history.
More than 300 international representatives of music/audio-related
manufacturers and distributors were in attendance. In preparation for
the awards, approximately 60 magazines from around the world compiled
a list of nominees in over 40 categories, from which the final winners
were chosen. For more information on the 2004 Musikmesse International
