Lexicon® Offers Landmark MV-5
Processor
CEDIA EXPO, DENVER, CO – Lexicon®, Inc., a Harman
International company (NYSE: HAR), offers the MV-5 Processor, a multi-faceted
audio and video preamplifier and processor that combines groundbreaking
features and performance with exceptional affordability. Offering capabilities
previously only available in the flagship Lexicon MC-12 HD, the MV-5
can accommodate a pair of HDMI source devices, such as a DVD player
and HDTV tuner, and can connect directly to a PC via USB, enabling the
control and playback of streaming audio files. With an optional dock
accessory, iPod® owners can even play their iPod music through the
MV-5.
Building on its heritage as the leader of digital audio
and home theater technologies, Lexicon created the MV-5 to provide high-end
home theater versatility and performance. The MV-5 is an 8-channel preamp/processor
that supports two independent zones and, with its 12 configurable inputs,
is designed to serve as the control center for a home theater system.
Landmark Features and Performance
Because the MV-5 is designed for versatility, the unit is capable of
playing audio stored on computers and iPods. Users can connect a computer
to the MV-5’s USB port to begin enjoying their music file collections.
In addition, the optional D-1 dock not only allows users to play audio
files from an iPod, but also facilitates navigation of iPod menus using
the intuitive remote control.
The MV-5 is the first Lexicon processor to feature integrated
Faroudja® video processing technology. With this superior video
capability, the MV-5 can take any incoming video format and up-convert
it to HDMI output, enabling the use of a single HDMI cable between the
MV-5 and the video display. The MV-5 can also scale the video to 720p
or 1080i output resolution for improved video performance from standard
definition sources. To further allow video performance optimization,
the MV-5 has two menu pages per input devoted solely to advanced user-adjustable
video processing features, such as Faroudja’s DCDi®, which
is designed to smooth out the jagged edges caused when video is de-interlaced.
Another feature, film mode detection, automatically identifies film
sources and restores the proper frame sequence. The MV-5’s noise
reduction feature helps to minimize the noise often contained within
analog video signals.
Drawing from Lexicon’s 35-plus years of expertise in digital audio,
the MV-5 Processor features the latest version of Lexicon’s critically
acclaimed Logic 7® decoding. The calling card of all Lexicon processors,
Logic 7 has been widely praised for its ability to greatly enhance the
listening experience of any type of source material. With Logic 7, music
sounds more natural, movies are more compelling and video games put
players in the middle of the action.
The MV-5 features an automated procedure for use in speaker
setup, which also performs system equalization. Most equalization systems
simply knock down the peaks in the response, but the MV-5 calibrates
the system more intelligently – compensating for frequency response
aberrations and varied speaker performance, while balancing the entire
system for the best overall results. In addition, the MV-5 is capable
of storing different calibrations, so up to three different listening
positions can be recalled at the touch of a button. The end result is
a system that optimizes the sound quality where it counts the most –
where listeners are seated.
Other refinements include an RS-232 connection, a rear-panel IR input
and two trigger outputs for exceptional integration capabilities in
custom installations. A 7.1 channel analog input array is also included
to accommodate ultra-high performance audio sources. Supplied with a
universal learning remote control, the MV-5 represents a new age in
audio and video processing equipment from Lexicon.
The Lexicon MV-5 Processor comes with a 3-year warranty
and joins Lexicon’s renowned line of home theater products. It
is now available at $2999.00 U.S. MSRP.
