LEXICON OFFERS LATEST UPGRADE FOR
FLAGSHIP RV-8 A/V RECEIVER
— The RV-8 Version 2 update includes several significant enhancements
to
improve the listening experience —
CEDIA EXPO, DENVER, CO, September 14, 2006 —
Lexicon, Inc., a Harman International company (NYSE: HAR), has released
the latest upgrade for its flagship RV-8 Receiver, an eight-channel
audio/video preamplifier, seven-channel power amplifier, and FM/AM tuner
in a single chassis. The RV-8 Version 2 (RV-8 V2) upgrade offers numerous
enhancements, including Radio Data Systems (RDS) capability, the latest
version of 5.1 Logic 7®, Dolby® Pro Logic® IIx (PLIIx),
as well as the critically acclaimed Lexicon LIVE™.
Building on its reputation as a leader of digital audio
and home theater technologies, Lexicon has created RV-8 V2 to push the
capabilities of this critically acclaimed product even further. The
RV-8 V2 is optimized to serve as the cornerstone of a high-performance
home theater experience in an integrated package.
The RV-8 V2 upgrade begins with the owner purchasing the
upgrade ($500 US MSRP) from an authorized Lexicon dealer. The RV-8 V2
upgrade includes Lexicon LIVE, and with the use of an optional 2-microphone
kit ($500 US MSRP), provides the ability to make a realistic and pleasurable
acoustic space out of almost any listening room. This concept is based
on the critically acclaimed LARES (Lexicon Acoustic Reinforcement and
Enhancement System), in use for over a decade to improve the acoustics
of prestigious live venues worldwide. Lexicon has made accessing the
benefits of this comprehensive technology remarkably simple, with clear
instructions and immediately audible results. Lexicon is renowned for
developing the world’s premier reverb algorithms — breakthrough
solutions that not only facilitate incredibly realistic sounding reverbs
and acoustic spaces, but also aid in sound localization and a more pleasurable
listening experience overall.
Three presets have been provided as a starting point for
Lexicon LIVE. Each of these presets is fully customizable and can be
adjusted to create acoustic spaces ranging from small rooms to cavernous
structures. The ability to modify both the room size and the reverberation
time provides enormous control over the type of space being created.
A pre-delay setting can be changed to give the impression of being different
distances from the reflecting surfaces (the walls). Separate parameters
for reverberation and early reflection levels allow for precise control
over the apparent distance from the sound source.
*It is important to note that Lexicon LIVE is active only
for sounds originating from within the listening room itself —
the sounds that are picked up by the optional microphones. It cannot
be applied to other input sources such as CD or DVD.
RV-8 V2 includes Logic 7 enhancements as well as Dolby
PLIIx. Logic 7 for multi-channel Dolby Digital, DTS®, and 5.1 analog
sources now offers new playback improvements. For the first time, poorly
mixed multi-channel music and movie sources can be corrected during
real-time playback. When played using Logic 7, multi-channel recordings
with little or no center channel output will no longer sound deficient.
Logic 7 stabilizes the center image and improves the front soundstage.
Movie and music versions of Dolby PLIIx have been added for both two-channel
and multi-channel sources.
Another key feature in the RV-8 V2 upgrade is RDS capability.
This technology allows radio stations to transmit supplementary information
via encoded signals that can be received and displayed on the RV-8 V2’s
front panel. For example, with RDS, the RV-8 V2 can display the artist,
title and/or current song playing.
The RV-8 V2 represents another evolutionary step in home
entertainment, yielding uncompromising audio and video playback with
a wealth of features developed to answer the demands of enthusiasts
and audiophiles alike. Created to match the innovative industrial design
of Lexicon’s award winning home theater products, the RV-8 V2
includes eight configurable inputs utilizing eight digital audio, eight
analog audio, one phono, five composite video, five S-video and three
component video inputs. The analog audio connectors can be reconfigured
for up to two 5.1-channel sources. In addition, RV-8 V2 comes with an
intuitive learning IR Remote Control that provides full operation of
the unit. The Remote can also provide complete control over most audio/video
systems.
The Lexicon RV-8 V2 Receiver comes with a three-year warranty
and joins Lexicon’s renowned line of home theater products, which
includes: the MC-12, MC-8 and MC-4 Digital Controllers; and the RT-10
and RT-20 Universal Disc Players. The RV-8 V2 is available at a US MSRP
of $6995. The RV-8 V2 upgrade is available at a US MSRP of $500. The
optional
2-mic kit is available at a US MSRP of $500.
