LEXICON LAUNCHES NEW SERIES OF POWER AMPLIFIERS
— Company introduces ZX-7, RX-7 and GX-7 Power Amplifiers as
part of
new range that combines pristine sound and advanced functionality —
CEDIA EXPO, DENVER, CO, September 14, 2006 —
Lexicon, Inc., a Harman International company (NYSE: HAR), announces
a new series of Power Amplifiers designed to complement the MC series
of Digital Controllers. The series consists of 3 models, all of which
feature 7 channels. There is the flagship ZX-7, with a truly impressive
300 Watts per channel, the RX-7 with 200 Watts per channel, and the
GX-7 with 125 Watts per channel.
Both the ZX-7 and RX-7 are fully balanced power amplifiers
from input to output with completely symmetrical circuit design. In
other words, each channel consists of two complete amplifier circuits;
one driving the positive input signal and the other driving the negative
input signal. With 7 channels, this translates into 14 separate amplifier
circuits per chassis. The advantage of this topology over single-ended
designs is that it exhibits lower noise, lower distortion, immunity
from stray electronic fields and anomalies in the input signal from
outside interference. This results in significant audible benefits including
increased overall clarity and more pronounced differences between soft
and loud passages. Internally, the ZX-7 and RX-7 utilize dual massive
torroidal transformers and ample filter capacitance to ensure rock-solid
low-frequency reproduction and ample power reserves.
“Our strategy was to offer the market a better,
best, ultimate range of 7-channel power amplifiers to address differing
system needs and to complement our line of Digital Controllers,”
commented Andrew Clark, VP Sales and Marketing for Lexicon. “The
GX-7 is intended for smaller rooms or for systems utilizing speakers
with high sensitivity and is a great choice to match up with a Lexicon
MC-4 or MC-8 Digital Controller. The RX-7 is a significant step up from
the GX-7 in terms of sound quality and power and is fully balanced from
input to output. It is intended for small or medium sized rooms or driving
speakers that have lower than normal sensitivity. The ZX-7 is intended
for larger rooms, driving speakers with low sensitivity, or for those
who simply demand the best. Both the ZX-7 and the RX-7 are right at
home with any of Lexicon’s Digital Controllers,” concluded
Clark.
All three of the new power amplifiers feature heavy-duty,
chassis-mounted input and output connectors. The rear panel also features
a trigger input to power on and off with the preamp/processor, and handles
that facilitate easier installation and rear-rail rack mounting if desired.
The GX-7 is targeted to begin shipping in October with
a U.S. MSRP of $2999. The RX-7 is targeted to begin shipping in November
with a U.S. MSRP of $5999. The ZX-7 is targeted to begin shipping in
December with a U.S. MSRP of $7999.
