SOUTHEAST CHRISTIAN CHURCH IMPLEMENTS THE XTA DP6i
— Spectrum Sound and ADI Group’s Duncan Edwards designs
a
complex multi-line array system for the 8,500-seat megachurch in Louisville
using the incredibly flexible and reliable DP6i controller —
NSCA EXPO, ORLANDO, FL — Southeast Christian
Church in Louisville, KY is part of a growing trend of megachurch worship
centers across the U.S., each one further raising the bar of technological
sophistication for church media systems. To keep up with the increasingly
complex requirements of these systems, Nashville, TN-based Spectrum
Sound — a leading audio systems designer and installer that specializes
in serving the worship technology market — and Clinton, CT-based
Duncan Edwards of ADI Group turned to the highly reliable and flexible
XTA DP6i digital system controller to handle speaker management for
Southeast Christian’s advanced sound system. A total of 17 DP6i
controllers were used on the project to manage multiple line arrays
and intricate fill systems throughout the massive worship center.
The XTA DP6i was the first and only choice of Spectrum
Sound, the system installer hired by Southeast Christian Church, to
create a new audio system that meets the challenge of its 8,500-seat
scale. A large Adamson sound system was specified comprised of 4 main
line arrays, 6 delay line arrays, 12 under-balcony fills, and 4 front
fills. “The DP6i is Adamson’s manufacturer-approved controller
for its system, and it’s our first choice, too,” says Ken
DeBelius, Sales Manager for Spectrum Sound’s contracting division.
“This project’s biggest challenge is the number of zones
needed to provide proper coverage of sound, everything from spoken word
to music. There are a lot of I/Os to handle here. And the DP6i handles
them incredibly well.”
In each of its many zones, the XTA DP6i manages the speaker
configurations for tasks such as control, EQ, crossover and delay. “The
DP6i performs amazingly,” remarks DeBelius. “We’ve
been using the DP Series controllers for years. We trust them because
they’re reliable, they sound great and they give us tremendous
flexibility in configuring systems. The DP6i gives us all that in this
installation. We count on them and they always come through.”
