FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Genelec, Westlake Pro and GRAMMY® Award-Winning
Producer/Engineer Josh Wilbur Hold Successful “The Ones” Demo Event

NATICK, MA, September 13, 2017 Genelec, the leader in active monitoring technology for nearly 40 years, recently held a special event on Thursday, August 24, 2017, at Westlake Pro in North Hollywood, CA. Presented in association with Westlake Pro and part of the latter’s proSESSIONS series, the event featured GRAMMY® Award-winning producer/engineer Josh Wilbur (Papa Roach, Megadeth, Korn, Demi Lovato, others), who discussed his mixing techniques and demo’ed Genelec’s new “The Ones” series of Compact Coaxial Active Monitors. The event was standing-room-only and was live-streamed worldwide.

The evening’s program began with remarks from Dean Palya, Westlake Pro Director of Marketing, who welcomed the crowd and introduced Genelec’s Steffenee Copley (Western Region – Sales) and Paul Stewart (Eastern Territory Sales Manager), who thanked Westlake Pro for co-hosting and gave a teaser for the demo of The Ones that attendees would soon fully experience. They then introduced Wilbur, who took the show from there.

As a highly versatile producer / engineer, Josh Wilbur has worked on some of the most popular albums in pop and rock over the last decade. From P!nk to Korn, Josh's incredibly diverse resume has earned him a GRAMMY and multiple nominations. At this event, Wilbur shared his workflows, processes and career highlights, as well as insights into his mixing techniques and why he chooses Genelec monitors. To demo Genelec’s The Ones and Genelec 1234 Smart Active Monitors, Wilbur deconstructed his mix on a few tracks (including the recently-released “Beneath the Riverbed” from Sons of Texas and “The Sin and the Sentence” from Trivium, as well as an exclusive preview from a yet-to-be-released track from an upcoming project). A Q&A session followed, with questions sourced from both the crowd and the live stream.

All visitors were entered in a drawing to win a pair of Genelec 8010A Studio Monitors, which were awarded to one lucky attendee.

Wilbur remarked, “It was a fun night listening and talking about music. Genelec speakers provided a highly accurate and pleasant listening environment. When I think back on my career, I’ve been lucky to get work across many genres; the only consistent thing, in a way, has been Genelecs, which always make my listening environment so much better.”

Genelec, the pioneer in Active Monitoring technology, is celebrating nearly 40 years of designing and manufacturing active loudspeakers for true and accurate sound reproduction. Genelec is credited with promoting the concept of active transducer technology. Since its inception in 1978, Genelec has concentrated its efforts and resources into creating active monitors with unparalleled sonic integrity. The result is an active speaker system that has earned global acclaim for its accurate imaging, extremely high acoustic output from small enclosures, true high-fidelity with low distortion, and deep, rich bass.

Genelec is also celebrating over 10 years of its Smart Active Monitoring™ technology, which allows studio monitors to be networked, configured and calibrated for the user’s specific acoustic environment. Each Smart Active Monitor or subwoofer is equipped with advanced internal DSP circuitry, which tightly integrates with the GLM (Genelec Loudspeaker Manager) software application, running on Mac or PC. GLM’s reference microphone kit allows the user’s acoustic environment to be analyzed, after which GLM’s AutoCal feature optimizes each Smart Active Monitor for level, distance delay, subwoofer crossover phase and room response equalization, with the option of further fine tuning by the user. By minimizing the room’s influence on the sound, Smart Active Monitors deliver an unrivalled reference, with excellent translation between rooms.
