FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Genelec Offers M040 Bi-Amplified Active Monitors

THE NAMM SHOW, ANAHEIM, CA, January 23, 2014Genelec (Booth 6220 [Hall A]), the world’s pioneer in active monitoring, offers its new M040 Bi-amplified Active Monitors, one of the newest models in Genelec’s energy-efficient M Series, which takes a new approach to monitor design as part of Genelec’s larger ongoing sustainable initiatives known as GES (Genelec Embedded Sustainability) while offering something new and innovative for project studio recordists.

The M040 employs a Natural Composite Enclosure™ (NCE™) manufactured for Genelec in Finland from wood fiber and recyclable material. The M040 uses Genelec enclosure design heritage, featuring rounded edges and gently curved front and sides to provide minimized cabinet edge diffraction and superb imaging. The M040 also utilizes a Laminar Integrated Port™ (LIP™) for accurate low frequency response and minimizing the enclosure vibration and employs an integrated advanced Directivity Control Waveguide™ (DCW™), yielding large internal volumes with outstanding mechanical strength.

The M040 employs a 6.5-inch woofer with a one-inch metal dome tweeter, powered by an 80-Watt and 50-Watt amplifier respectively. The free-field frequency response is 48Hz-20kHz (+/-3dB), while low distortion peak SPL is 107dB at one meter. The M040 measures 13 1/4" H (337mm) x 9 1/4" W (235mm) x 9" D (229mm) and weighs 15.4 lbs (7.4kg).

The M040 features new class D amplifiers developed in-house by Genelec’s R&D/engineering team. The class D amplifiers are highly efficient, low distortion amplifiers that operate cooler and lighter than class A/B amps. They also feature Intelligent Signal Sensing™ (ISS™) power management with auto power-off/auto power-on and with the standby power consumption of less than 0.5W. Automatic voltage selection allows the monitors to operate throughout the world. Additionally, the M040 has high-performance drivers, intuitive room response controls and system calibration with XLR/TRS and unbalanced RCA inputs.

The Genelec M040 Bi-amplified Active Monitor is now available with a U.S. MSRP of $995.00 each. For more information, please visit www.genelecusa.com/.

Genelec, the pioneer in Active Monitoring technology, is celebrating its 35th anniversary of designing and manufacturing active loudspeakers for true and accurate sound reproduction. Genelec is credited with promoting the concept of active transducer technology, which many manufacturers are just now incorporating into their products. Since its inception in 1978, Genelec has concentrated its efforts and resources into creating active monitors with unparalleled sonic integrity. The result is an active speaker system that has earned global acclaim for its accurate imaging, extremely high acoustic output from small enclosures, true high-fidelity with low distortion, and deep, rich bass.
