FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Genelec Exhibits 7050B and 7060B Active Subwoofers

WINTER NAMM SHOW, ANAHEIM, CA, January 19, 2012 — Genelec  (booth 6220/Hall A), the world’s longstanding leader in active monitoring, is exhibiting its 7050B and 7060B Active Subwoofers at Winter NAMM 2012.

The Genelec 7050B LSE™ subwoofer is a perfect partner to the 8020A Bi-Amplified Active Monitoring System for both stereo and surround sound applications. The 7050B extends the LF response down to 25 Hz with amazing bass articulation. This is made possible in such a compact enclosure thanks to Genelec's patented Laminar Spiral Enclosure (LSE™) technology. With 5 main input channels and an LFE channel with 85/120 Hz reproduction bandwidth selection, the 8020A/7050B system fulfills the needs of 5.1 productions. Users can also use the 7050B to complement the 8030A monitor. The 7050B is designed to complement Genelec's 8020A active monitors in stereo and surround applications, and the 8030A in stereo-only setups. The subwoofer features a single 8" proprietary driver with a 70-Watt power amplifier. It has a frequency response from 25 Hz - 85 Hz (± 3dB), and the ability to deliver short-term sine wave of 100 dB SPL in half space at 1 meter. Like all Genelec LSE active subwoofers, the 7050B also features extremely low distortion.

Genelec 7060B Active Subwoofer is powerful and precise bass monitoring tool for modern 6.1 or 5.1 channel Surround Sound or traditional stereo systems. With its 19 Hz lower cut-off frequency, high sound pressure output capability and versatile bass management systems, it can be adapted to all low frequency monitoring situations. The amplifier unit integrated into the cabinet contains active crossover filters, driver overload protection circuits and power amplifiers. The in-built bass management unit has six signal input and output channels, summed signal output connectors and LFE input equipped with a selectable 85/120 Hz lowpass filter and a 0 / +10dB LFE sensitivity switch. The Genelec Laminar Spiral Enclosure (LSE) bass reflex cabinet is made of a sheet metal rolled into a spiral shape and clamped between thick MDF side panels. This new construction technique provides excellent laminar flow characteristics with minimal turbulence noise and enables an optimal packing of a very long reflex tube into a small space.

Genelec’s 7050B and 7060B Active Subwoofers are currently available with pricing as follows: 7050B $1495.00 U.S. MSRP; 7060B $2890.00 U.S. MSRP.

Genelec, the pioneer in Active Monitoring technology, is celebrating over 30 years of designing and manufacturing active loudspeakers for true and accurate sound reproduction. Genelec is credited with promoting the concept of active transducer technology, which many manufacturers are just now incorporating into their products. Since its inception in 1978, Genelec has concentrated its efforts and resources into creating active monitors with unparalleled sonic integrity. The result is an active speaker system that has earned global acclaim for its accurate imaging, extremely high acoustic output from small enclosures, true high-fidelity with low distortion, and deep, rich bass.
