NAB Show, Las Vegas, NV, April 24, 2017 — Genelec (booth C4742), the leader in active monitoring technology for nearly 40 years, is demonstrating models from its acclaimed Smart Active Monitoring™ line at the company’s NAB exhibition booth, #C4742. Genelec’s Smart Active Monitoring technology is an indispensable tool for monitoring jobs of varying scale. Smart Active Monitoring automatically optimizes and aligns each monitor for relative levels and time of flight, as well as the individual room response compensations. So, even if the monitors or the projects move between rooms, users can expect that Smart Active Monitoring technology will achieve the highest level of consistency in monitoring by always providing a neutral sound stage imaging with low distortion.
At the NAB Show, the 8351 three-way Smart Active Monitor is being highlighted. With a compact footprint and outstanding acoustic performance, the 8351 Acoustically Coaxial Smart Active Monitoring System marks a bold step forward in active monitoring featuring major advances in audio driver technology integrated into a sophisticated enclosure design.
Also featured is the 8330 compact two-way Smart Active Monitor. The 8330 features a 5-inch woofer and 0.75-inch metal dome tweeter, powered by dedicated 50-Watt amplifiers, along with Genelec’s Minimum Diffraction Enclosure™ (MDE™), made of recycled die-cast aluminium, as well as the advanced Directivity Control Waveguide™ (DCW™) technology. While the 8330 monitor is small in stature, it offers accurate, powerful monitoring and is part of the highly integrated software and hardware solutions developed by Genelec’s R&D team.
Genelec’s 8340 and 8350 monitors offer the highest possible system flexibility for demanding monitoring needs, for both analog and digital audio applications. These systems include floating-point DSP engines, linearized phase response and highly refined auto-calibration and spectral tuning capability, allowing better room integration and ease of use in any environment. Highly efficient Genelec-designed Class D amplifiers, combined with latest-technology drivers, allow the 8340 and the 8350 to achieve high sound pressure levels and dynamic range, improved frequency response flatness and very low distortion. This means clean and neutral audio reproduction at all volumes without listening fatigue, enabling audio professionals to work with consistency and accuracy. These systems also feature all the benefits of the 8000 Series such as Genelec’s MDE design, which provides very low cut-off frequencies and a vibration-free structure for clean sound at high output levels. Genelec’s innovative DCW also provides accurate sound reproduction for on- and off-axis listening positions.
Genelec’s 7360 and 7370 Smart Active subwoofers, optimized to work with 8340 and 8350 monitors, are built upon the proven Laminar Spiral Enclosure (LSE™) technology, which delivers articulate, precise low-frequency reproduction with high dynamic capability. Also achieving higher sound pressure levels with more amplifier power and headroom, the 7360 and 7370 include a comprehensive multichannel bass-management system offering both 7.1 analog and stereo digital inputs in a single, cost-effective package without the need for additional external A/D converters.
