GENELEC LOUDSPEAKER MANAGER™ (GLM™) WITH AUTOCAL™
NOW AVAILABLE FOR MAC® OS X PLATFORM
— Genelec AutoCal™
is also updated on both Windows® XP and Mac® OS X
platforms with the inclusion of Symmetrical Placement EQ —
NAB SHOW, LAS VEGAS,
NV, April 16, 2007 — Genelec, the preeminent manufacturer
of active monitoring solutions since 1978, announces that its Genelec
Loudspeaker Manager™ (GLM™) software with AutoCal™
for the 8200 and 7200 DSP Series Monitors is now also available for
the Intel and Power PC Macintosh® OS X platform (existing users
should contact Genelec Inc. directly for update discs). Additionally,
AutoCal has been updated to include Symmetrical Placement EQ™
which allows AutoCal to design one set of filters to be used for both
loudspeakers forming a sonically symmetrical pair, for example the Left
and Right Front loudspeakers. The latest software revision is version
1.1.0 for both platforms.
The Genelec Loudspeaker Manager (GLM) software is a sophisticated
computer program (Windows® XP and now Mac® OS X platforms) providing
the necessary connectivity/control for all 8200 and 7200 DSP Series
loudspeakers on the GLM Control Network. As many as 25 of the 8200 loudspeakers
and 5 of the 7200 subwoofers are definable and controllable via standard
CAT5 cabling. GLM allows multiple custom User Setups for various listening
locations with all settings and functions able to be stored and exchanged
between computer platforms in GLM setup or directly to each loudspeaker.
Genelec’s automated system calibration algorithm, AutoCal, combines
decades of acoustic research along with the company’s proprietary
DSP and GLM network control. AutoCal supplies the industry’s first
integrated process for complete automated measurement, analysis and
adjustment of every speaker on the network.
Regarding the AutoCal technology, Bruce Bartone, National
Sales Manager for Genelec Inc., stated, “In less time than it
takes to make a cup of coffee, each speaker’s acoustic performance
in a full 5.1 system is correctly integrated and optimized within the
listening environment. AutoCal technology builds on the decades of in-studio
calibration and measurement services Genelec has provided worldwide
that utilizes the on-board room response filters on every analog model.
The benefits of monitor system calibration are now delivered to every
customer with the DSP Series.” As a logical extension of the 8000
Series Active Monitors, the Genelec DSP Series utilizes sophisticated
digital signal processing to allow for all standard AES/EBU formats
of digital audio. The 8200/7200 Series will accept sampling rates ranging
from 32 kHz to 192 kHz. The 8200 Series will also accept traditional
analog signals and perform with all the features and benefits of Genelec
8000 Series products.
The DSP Series is currently being employed by leading
industry professionals ranging from New York based XM Productions/Effanel
Music, who chose Genelec 8200 DSP Monitoring Systems for the 49th Annual
GRAMMY® Awards, to Michigan’s GTN Inc., a leading audio production,
post production and location audio facility specializing in broadcast
commercial post production, to R/H Factor, a top independent audio post
house in Hollywood with TV credits including Boston Legal, My Name Is
Earl, Ally McBeal, CSI, Boston Public and Mr. Sterling, as well as numerous
independent feature films.
About the Genelec DSP Series
The DSP Series is comprised of two Bi-amplified Active Monitors. The
8240A utilizes a 6.5-inch woofer and 3/4-inch tweeter set into Genelec’s
Advanced Directivity Controlled Waveguide™ (DCW™). The free-field
frequency response is 48 Hz to 20 kHz (±1.0 db). Peak SPL per
pair is 115 dB driven by a pair of 90 Watt amplifiers for each driver.
The 8250A has an 8-inch woofer and 1-inch tweeter set into the DCW with
a free-field frequency response of
38 Hz to 20 kHz (±1.0 db). Peak SPL per pair is 120 dB driven
by 150 Watt LF, and 120 Watt HF amplifiers. Both models are fully compatible
with the GLM and proprietary Genelec loudspeaker control network, as
well as the 7260A, 7270A and 7271A Active Subwoofers, and can also be
used independently of the network. All drivers are magnetically shielded.
The GLM Installation Package includes AutoCal microphone
with holder, USB cable, microphone cable, Control Network Interface,
GLM System Operating Manual, and GLM software disc for both PC and Mac.
A GLM Expansion Package is also available, offering the capability to
install GLM in additional rooms within a facility.
