GUITAR CENTER PROFESSIONAL WELCOMES ENGINEER/PRODUCER/MIXER HUGO NICOLSON TO THE U.S.

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CA, October 21, 2008 — Earlier this year, recording engineer, producer and mixer Hugo Nicolson decided to make the big move, from his home base in London to Southern California. It was a strategic decision that would take an already successful career – his credits include engineering Radiohead’s recent In Rainbows LP, which helped revolutionize the business model of the music industry, as well as mixing, engineering and production and programming work for Björk, Dido and several major motion picture scores – to the next level. It was nonetheless a decision that was daunting in terms of its logistics. However, when it came time to set up shop with his own personal studio, Guitar Center Professional (GC Pro), the outside sales division of Guitar Center that focuses on the needs of professional users, was ready to help.

GC Pro Account Manager Jason Cropper helped choose the right combination of technology platforms for setting up a cost-effective yet powerful and flexible studio. When all was said and done, The Opera House at Nicolson’s new Los Angeles address was outfitted with a Digidesign Pro Tools HD3 system, equipped with the Waves Mercury plug-in bundle, a slew of API EQs and limiters, KRK VXT8 monitors and everything else Nicolson needed for recording after a transatlantic move.

“There’s nothing else quite like the service you get from GC Pro,” says Nicolson. “Jason was outstanding, as were all of the folks at GC Pro. I had gotten a reference from Ocean Way Studios, and that was one of the best bits of advice I’ve gotten since I moved here. GC Pro helped me find everything I needed and at a competitive price.” GC Pro also assured the transition to the States was as seamless as possible, as Nicolson has just finished recording new artist Headless Heroes. “It’s one thing to come over here to do a specific project, like mix a film score, and quite another to move yourself halfway around the world and set up your own business,” he says. “I really feel like it‘s the right thing to be doing at this time in my life and I’m glad that I had the kind of help that GC Pro was able to provide.”
