Court Yard Hounds to Hold Events at studio b.
— Acclaimed country duo, also known as two thirds of the GRAMMY®-winning trio
Dixie Chicks, to hold intimate concert (benefiting the Art Full Living Foundation)
and co-writing sessions at studio b. —
ALYS BEACH, FLORIDA, October 17, 2011 — Earlier this year, Court Yard Hounds/Dixie Chicks member Emily Robison forged a relationship with studio b., whose founder Colleen Duffley is a longtime friend of Robison and her sister and bandmate Martie Maguire. This month, Robison returns to studio b., at Alys Beach along Florida’s Emerald Coast, with her sister and some of their top collaborators and special guest artists for an intimate performance event, as well as private songwriting sessions for the Court Yard Hounds’ upcoming second LP. The performance event – An Evening with Court Yard Hounds & Special Guests – will take place Thursday, October 27, 2011, from 7-10 p.m. and will feature some of the music that the group came up with during the four days of songwriting sessions leading up to the event. The concert is co-sponsored by www.bookit.com.
After two years into a hiatus from their GRAMMY®- winning band the Dixie Chicks, Maguire and Robison found themselves wanting to write and perform again. With the formation of the Court Yard Hounds, the act put Emily Robison front-and-center as lead vocalist and, in May 2010, introduced their band’s namesake first album, which hit #7 on the Billboard 200 chart. Now, with studio b.’s Parisian salon-style setting as the band’s creative environment and the spectacular Florida Gulf Coast as inspiration, Maguire and Robison are writing for their next album.
This is a uniquely intimate evening offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet Robison and Maguire, musical luminaries and founding members of the Dixie Chicks. Not only will attendees be able to see them play live, up-close and personal, but they will have the opportunity to speak with them afterwards and take part in a special meet-and-greet mingle. Special Court Yard Hounds merchandise will also be available.
Robison said, “We tell stories through song and music. The journey – from Dixie Chicks to time off to spend with our families, to writing songs for our second album as the Court Yard Hounds and everything in between – is loaded with stories. We are thrilled by the opportunity to use studio b. as the creative inspiration for our writing retreat to take what we see, think and feel out of our hearts and minds and put them into lyrics and melodies.”
Duffley stated, “As a photographer, I have been lucky to shoot the Dixie Chicks in the past and have formed great friendships with Emily and Martie. They are both wonderful individuals – generous, endlessly talented, classy and elegant – and deserve every bit of success they have achieved. I am thrilled they have decided to come and visit us here at studio b. I cannot wait for them to light up the b. with their presence and music, and I am honored that they have chosen the b. as an inspirational space for their closed-door songwriting retreat with their favorite co-writers.”
