December 30, 2011 — Studio b., located on the Florida Panhandle, is calling for submissions from around the world in their fourth annual camera phone photography event. Encouraging participants to “start the new year with a creative bang,” studio b. will be accepting photos from midnight on December 31, 2011, through Tuesday, January 3, 2012 (although images should be captured in the 24 hours of January 1, in keeping with the event’s New Year theme). The goal of the event is to help show how people of all ages are using their camera phones as instruments of creativity. Participants must use the camera in their iPhone (or any other smartphone) to shoot their activities or whatever captures their fancy during the dawning of the brand new year.
“Shoot your life, your food, your dog – anything and everything,” urges studio b. founder and world-class photographer Colleen Duffley. “The only rule is that all images must be shot with a camera phone.”
There are no fees, and participants can submit as many images as they like. Images should be identified with photographer’s name, title of the shot and where/when it was taken. Submissions should be sent to scoop@studiobthebeach.com.
Images will be selected for inclusion in the next iteration of studio b.’s pioneering Light Impressions exhibition, which currently showcases the work of 40 of the world’s best smartphone photographers on 40 iPads. Slideshows from participants are also posted on studio b.’s website, where they can be viewed around the globe. In addition to being featured in the online gallery, images will be printed and displayed in studio b.’s art gallery and travel with the Light Impressions installation nationally and globally. Visit the studio b. website for the most up-to-the-minute information on the Light Impressions exhibition dates and locations.
