Roland Professional A/V and JVC Collaborate at NAB

tally integration with JVC’s RM-LP100 Controller and IP-capable cameras —

NAB Show, Las Vegas, NV, April 9, 2018 — Roland Professional A/V (booth SL4707) and JVC Professional Video have collaborated on integration of Roland’s V-60HD HD Video Switcher’s tally system with JVC’s RM-LP100 Controller for its KY-PZ100 PTZ and IP-capable cameras. Both companies are demonstrating this system and the tally function at their respective NAB Show 2018 booths, April 9 to 12 – Roland at booth SL4707 and JVC at booth C4315.

New version 1.1 firmware updates for the Roland V-60HD HD Video Switcher enable tally signals to be sent through the RS-232 port, then converted to LAN for connection into the JVC RM-LP100 Controller. “The new V-60HD has a small footprint, but it’s packed with features. With six inputs, it’s another great option from Roland for our low-cost studio solution,” said Craig Yanagi, product marketing manager, JVC Professional Video. “It integrates seamlessly with our streaming PTZ cameras and other models by sending tally commands to our remote camera controller via IP, so even budget productions can have truly professional results.”

Sending tally information through the LAN port eliminates the need for separate tally cables wired from switcher to cameras, simplifying the installation and streamlining the workflow. In addition to full PTZ control of the JVC KY-PZ100 cameras, the RM-LP100 is able to provide remote control functions for most JVC IP-enabled professional cameras. Control white balance, shutter, gain, master black, R/B levels, detail, AE level, menu operation and lens (certain lenses) of any camera on your network – up to 100 cameras. Tally functions are available for up to four cameras from the SDI inputs on the Roland V-60HD.

Rob Read, Roland Professional A/V Business Development Manager, remarks, “Both engineering teams have been working very hard. It is great to see the collaboration between Roland and JVC’s engineering teams, not only with tally but also in terms of future functionality with our switchers. We are excited to show this solution at NAB this year.”

The V-60HD, which began shipping in January, offers a sophisticated feature set perfectly suited for live event production as well as broadcast, recording and streaming. The V-60HD supports SDI camera inputs plus scaled HDMI inputs for data, computer, tablet and other video sources via a variety of video connections, plus a Program and independent AUX bus for confidence/presenter note monitoring, downstage monitoring or side screens. The V-60HD also offers advanced audio functionality including multi-channel embedded audio, XLR/TRS and RCA analog inputs, and multichannel embedded audio to two SDI outputs, plus comprehensive dynamics and auto-mixing.
