THE RECORDING ACADEMY® PRODUCERS & ENGINEERS WING CELEBRATES
THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE
GRAMMY® PRODUCERS SOUNDTABLE
A Panel of Experts Discusses What It Takes to Thrive in Today's Brave
New Music Industry
SANTA MONICA, Calif. (October 3, 2008) —
At the 125th AES Convention in San Francisco, The Recording Academy®
Producers & Engineers Wing will focus on what it takes to thrive
in today's brave new music industry, presenting, for the 20th annual
GRAMMY® Producers SoundTable, "You Inc.: Career Strategies
for a New Economy" at the Moscone Center on Saturday, October 4,
from 3:30 – 5:30 pm.
Today's audio recording professionals need only walk down
the aisle of any consumer audio retailer, turn on a television or listen
to a cell phone ring to hear possibilities for new revenue streams and
applications to showcase their talents. From video games to live shows,
to ringbacks and 360 deals, money and opportunities are out there, but
it’s up to "You, Inc." to grab them.
At this special event, six audio pros will share their
experiences and entrepreneurial expertise in creating income opportunities
for music and audio. Moderated by producer/engineer Mike Clink (Aerosmith,
Guns N' Roses, Sarah Kelly), the panel will feature producer/engineer/entrepreneur
Sylvia Massy (Johnny Cash, Econoline Crush, System of a Down); producer/engineer/entrepreneur
Keith Olsen (Fleetwood Mac, Ozzy Osbourne, POGOLOGO Productions/MSR
Acoustics); GRAMMY-winning producer/engineer/visionary Phil Ramone (Ray
Charles, Elton John, Shelby Lynne); artist/producer/remixer Carmen Rizzo
(Coldplay, Paul Oakenfold, Seal); and artist/indie rock innovator/studio
owner John Vanderslice (Mountain Goats, MK Ultra, Spoon).
"Our industry is constantly evolving and our P&E
Wing members continue to be on the cutting edge, helping to shape the
current and future direction of recording," stated Maureen Droney,
Senior Executive Director of the Producers & Engineers Wing. "For
this 20th anniversary GRAMMY Producers Soundtable, we have brought together
a diverse line-up of successful professionals for a challenging discussion
on what it takes to be successful in the music business of today and
tomorrow."
