MELVILLE, NY, July 6, 2011 — Korg USA donated musical equipment to support the Guitar and Accessories Marketing Association (GAMA) with their successful “Teaching Guitar Workshops” (TGW) program, conducted in partnership with NAMM and MENC. The purpose of the TGW is to introduce, as well as enhance, existing guitar programs in the classroom by training school music educators across the country. Korg USA donated Lâg guitars and over 200 Korg tuners to various TGW locations across the U.S.
“Part of Korg USA’s mission is to foster music-making, and we are proud to support GAMA’s work to bring guitar instruction to the classroom,” says Michael Bradley, Director of Marketing at Korg USA. “We are pleased to partner with GAMA’s efforts to make music a priority in schools.” Since its inception in 1995, the TGW program has provided guitars, teaching accessories, and publications to participating teachers.
GAMA’s TGW program focuses heavily on training educators to be able to teach all students in their classroom simultaneously rather than one student at a time. “GAMA’s TGW program creates shared value for school music educators, students, and the music products industry,” says Robert Sulkow, Executive Director of GAMA. “The classroom guitar programs that GAMA creates enrich the school music environment; they attract students who were not previously engaged in making music and help teachers gain job security. The classroom guitar programs also result in sales of guitar products. GAMA members contribute funding and products to the teachers we train; this results in brand equity, brand awareness, and ultimately revenues.”
