Iron Mountain to Participate in Summer NAMM 2017 Panel Session in Nashville

– “No Regrets: Preservation Techniques Past, Present and Future” will highlight the
need for preservation and offer practical advice for artists, producers and engineers –

LOS ANGELES, CA, July 10, 2017 – At the upcoming Summer NAMM Show in Nashville, Tenn., Iron Mountain Incorporated® (NYSE: IRM), the global leader in storage and information management services, will participate in a panel entitled “No Regrets: Preservation Techniques Past, Present and Future,” part of the convention’s TEC Tracks series of educational sessions. Barry Cardinael, project manager for Iron Mountain Film & Sound Archives, will represent Iron Mountain’s Entertainment Services as a panelist, alongside fellow panelists Mark Needham, engineer, producer and mixer for artists such as Chris Isaak, Fleetwood Mac and The Killers; and Kelly Pribble, studio engineer for Dolly Parton, BeBe and CeCe Winans and James Morrison. The panel moderator is Jim Kaiser, Director of Technology, MasterMix, and Audio Engineering Technology instructor at Belmont University. The session will take place Thursday, July 13, from 2-3 p.m. CDT at the convention’s TEC Tracks booth (#263).

An artist, engineer or producer will spend hours in the studio recording, tracking, overdubbing and finally mastering their latest project or hit single. But after the heavy lifting is done, what are they doing to ensure the preservation and archival of all the hard work? This panel brings together leaders in the industry from a number of different disciplines to help guide attendees and give them practical information on how to save and preserve their most valued works. The discussion will outline best practices for archiving, including all documentation (agreements, session logs, settings, etc.), deliverables beyond the main project (instrumentals, a cappellas, TV tracks, vocal-up and vocal-down mixes, etc.) and possible issues with hard drives (including lifespans and horror stories). The session will also cover issues with analog tape storage and recovery, approaches for archiving on a budget and much more.
